So I had a job interview a few days ago. One of the questions was "tell me aabout any special talent you may have." I thought this was the perfect time to showcase my one-man-band ability. So I strapped some cymbals that I carry with me in my briefcase in between my leg, and got out my kazoo, and started playing "away in a manger", by kazooin' the lyrics whilst maintaining rhythm by clasping my knees together. The interviewer just laughed and said "next". Why haven't I heard back from him? It was for an project manager position.

Dude, never play Christmas music at a job interview! It is just not very politically correct these days. A better choice might have been "God Bless America" or some other patriotic song.

So you'd think that your ability to multitask would be showcased or demonstrated by the cymballing, and kazooing? Exactly what is needed for being a project manager right?

Well, you forgot the singing part. Or better yet, the hand in the armpit part. He would have been mesmerized and asked for an encore perhaps.

But don't give up hope. You might get a call back!

Entertaining...but yes it did cost you the job. The interviewer isn't looking to be entertained. If that had nothing to do with the job in question, then you just wasted the interviewer's time and that's not something a good project manager would do.

I'm impressed that you brought your One-Man-Band gear with you to the interview... were you going to perform in the streets afterwards or what??

You gotta be kidding me... that's something you bring out after you got the job... lol.

WAS THE INTERVIEWER INTERVIEWING FOR A ONE MAN BAND POSITION? IF IT WASN'T A MUSIC RELATED JOB, THAT WAS NO REASON TO GIVE A DEMONSTRATION.... CERTAINLY, ANY TIME, YOU SHOULD HAVE ASKED("WOULD YOU LIKE ME TO DEMONSTRATE?") BEFORE WHIPING OUT YOUR GEAR AND SINGING (A RELIGIOUS SONG). RELIGION HAS NO PLACE IN THE WORKPLACE UNLESS YOUR WORKPLACE IS A CHURCH OR OTHER RELIGIOUS AFFILIATION....

Hahahahaahhaa, I don't know if that costed you the job. Depends if the boss has any humor or not. Maybe someone ripped out their bass guitar and they chose them over you. Hahaha.
