I'm doing research for a novel I'm currently writing and can't seem to get a straight answer on the subject. I always assumed that dogs and wolves see in black and white, but I've seen a few pages online that claim new research has proven that they *are* able to see a few colors, so rather than put misinformation in my book, which side is right? ^^;;

They defintely do not see black and white.

All mammals except primates (apes, monkeys and us humans) are color blind. Being color blind is not the same as seeing black and white, but not being able to see a channel of the color.

i don't know about wolves but i know dogs see in black and white because to see in color you have to have cones but dogs have only rods.

I think dogs can see color. my dog was playing with a red toy. we threw it and it landed next to a red mitten. she ran for it and almost picked up the mitten, then switched to her toy which was only one inch away.
