All of the answers given (too much caffeine, hot tubs, etc.) CAN affect a man's sperm count. However, there could be physiologic reasons as well, and a urologist should be consulted. There are simple tests that can be done to determine if there's a problem.
One thing that will definitely lower a sperm count to the point of making a man infertile is a varicocele, which is a collection of varicose veins in the testicle. This can be treated surgically, although they almost always recur. Even when they are surgically corrected, some men still have low sperm counts.

I don't know because I have a similar problem where I'm getting pregnant but I'm having a hard time holding his babies although I have a daughter from a previous relatiomship,I carried her with no problem. My doctor said to have him tested for thesickle trait you can still get pregnant if he carries the trait and for him to get tested for a low sperm count hemooglobin c and chromosome abnormalities. Now if he is a carrier for abnormal chromosomes I woul'nt be able to carry the baby past3 or 4 mths and if you do carry a baby to full term it would'nt be normal. But if your partner smoke, drink,or have a job lifting heavy thingsthat might be a problem. It could be anything. You both need to go and get tested, that's the best advice I can give. And never forget to pray.Goodluck!

It is not always the male, and many other things, tight briefs, switch to boxers, hot bath before engaging in sex can sterilize temporarily.. Not always, and not dependable for preventing pregnancies. Only your gynecologist can answer first point. Finally, rhythm, find the days the woman is most fertile, usually midway between periods. But it is fun trying, Love is main ingredient. Keep trying... Scott

Inherited low sperm count. I have heard that wearing boxer briefs so it stays cooler down there can help increase the sperm level.
