First off, you can't lump all people in the USA into one category like that. I, for one, Love British humor! BBCA is one of my favorite channels, and PBS runs British sit-coms regularly. I just adore the Bucket woman and think she is totally hilarious! I'm a regular watcher of The Vicar of Dibley, Are You Being Served? (don't you just love all her hair colors?) Absolutely Fabulous (they are Sooooo disfunctional!), Fawlty Towers because he's such a screw-up, My Hero (silly, but cute), Father Ted (the old guy reminds me a priest I once knew), Allo, Allo (they are just totally f....ed up), My Family is very funny, and I even enjoy Open All Hours with the stuttering money fiisted shopkeeper.

I know that all Americans don't get it, but I know a lot who do. I also think the shoe is on the other foot sometimes because all Brits don't get American humor. So you have to stop saying that, ok?

Thank you, and Happy Friday!

I agree, when I would watch TV, I couldn't wait for your shows to come on, they were the only ones that would make me roar with laughter,it took me awhile to understand British humor, but once I understood it I could not get enough of it, It is a drier humor, if that is the correct word, but oh so funny, whereas I think our comedians in the US are sometimes a little too vulgar, and up tight.

British humour is very very dry. Often it is self degrading or pessimistic humour, like sarcasm for example. Also it is often very subtle.

Americans tend to prefer obvious and optimistic jokes. Which is better is a matter of opinion,.

Hehe us Brits own sarcasm and irony. And we can laugh at ourselves like no other lol. That's why we're funny!

Americans are a bit more careful about what they say on TV etc too, so I think we're a bit shocking sometimes.

I Think British Humour is Brilliant. It's dry, ironic and sarcastic.... and u have to be a bit intellectual to get it...I guess that might be the problem!...I love "yes minister" especially "sir humphrey"

first of all, whomever Maz is - you're too funny. XD

Anyway, I personally love brit humor, but most other americans just aren't smart enough. xD they go for blunt [mostly crude] humor, not anything that requires thought.

irony is my best friend, though.

I agree with what some have already said, they dont do irony, although cheers and frasier are brilliant so some obviously do!

sarcasm. some say its the lowest form of wit but its what makes us so british.
Also we're not afraid to have a laugh at our own expense.
