Well, about 80% of women have the virus. With most of them their immune system is able to fight it and naturally destroy it. But with some women the virus turns into cancer. If your boyfriend cheated on you, and you didn't had it before, it is very likely that he gave it to you. But then again they have not found out yet what exactly is the cause of this virus. Get treatment right away, for this may become very serious and deadly. They just invented and will release on the market at the end of June a vaccine against that. Its 100% effective against the virus causing HPV. Ask your doctor about it.

I had the same results last year.. and let me tell you I was terrified when I first heard that the cancer word could be used in my future... one thing that really annoyed me about all of this was the fact that the disease seems to lable women as being loose and so on.. I went through all the test.. biopsy and so on.. so far everything is fine.. one thing people should know is that even safe sex is not safe from HPV.. any skin contact at all is making you suceptable to this disease.. it's very common.. and yes they are coming out with a vaccine for it.. but.. my gyno told me that once you have come in contact with HPV.. the vaccine will do nothing for you.. it more or less will be given to young girls in the future as a type of booster shot.. which is a great idea.. I wouldnt want my daugher to go through what I have.. if I do ever have children.. hope this helps.. keep your chin up.. like previously stated.. 80% of the population has it at one point or another in their life.

I'm pretty sure that HPV can lay dormant.. but you obviously did get it from someone you slept with..you need to be more careful about who you have sex with.. and obviously someone from your past has it so you might want to tell them so they can get tested and stop spreading it..and check out Web MD.com That's a great site for stuff like this.
