creating bonds releases energy and breaking bonds requires energy is true in chemistry. Why is it in biology, catabolic pathways release energy by breaking down complex molecules and anabolic pathways consume energy to build complex molecules, the two sciences seem to contradict each other. Can someone with both knowledge in chemistry and biology please explain?

You're forgetting something with your reasoning here. It is true that in chemistry, creating bonds releases energy, but how do you get particles to create bonds between? You have to break other bonds, which requires energy. If catabolic pathways release energy when they break down complex molecules, the amount of energy it takes to break those bonds is less than the amount of energy released when new bonds are formed from the broken-up parts.

They work in harmony. Think of the ingested molecules as little batteries. You can hold a battery in your hand and not get electricity out of it. If you have the right components to release the stored energy in the battery, you can use it to do work.
Anabolic pathways are just another way biological work is done.

To change the form of matter requires energy.

it is not always that creating bonds releases energy and breaking bond requires energy.in body when actually the complex molecules are broken then energy is required.when the simple forms (like glucose,aminoacid,e.t.c) is assimilated by cell and oxidised in mitochondria then energy is released.in plants when complex sugars are formed from simple ones then energy is stored in it.

look at Fission (breaking bond) and Fusion (creating bond) in nuclear physics. Both release great energy.

Now you have more confusion ( Chemistry, Biology and Physics ).

I'm not sure too myself.
