Most weedwachers have a directional arrow to let you know which way to feed the cord.

i found this on another message board i hope it helps

1) Post the model # of the Sears unit and I'll tell you who made it for Sears originally and where you may be able to get the owner's manual and parts list for it free of charge. I have found this to be helpful with Sears products.

a) The first three digits of a Sears model # on a major item denotes who makes it. I'm betting yours is 257 or 358. 257 was Paramount and 358 is Poulan. Poulan, www.poulan.com (part of Electrolux) owns Paramount now.

b) Go to www.3sears.com or www.sears.com then 'parts' on the left, enter the full model # of the item and you should be able to get the owner's manual part #. That is what you need to give the OEM company for them to find it. They will likely send a photocopy. I've never been charged for any Sears instruction sheet yet.

They are ALL alike in the threading process.
A serious pain in the posterior!
Grab the instructions.....have a seat....get a drink...make sure it's NOT plugged in....pop the cap.....wrap the line around the spool...make sure you HOLD the line in place so it doesn't UNWIND on you and tic you off even more....remember to STILL hold the line together while you are putting the cap back on WHILE keeping the line hanging out thru the hole...make sure to leave enough line thru the hole so it doesn't slide it's *** back in to the spool...and then you have to do it all over again.

Can you tell I've done this MANY MANY times?

good luck. i just bought a special head that supposedly makes it easier, from craftsman. forget it. it tears everything up and doesn't last long. get some bleach. it is cheap and works longer.
