My wife and I are looking into getting bikes (just 1 first). Can anyone here recommend good resources (online, magazines, associations) which would be a good starting point for information, contacts, etc?

Thank you so much

Thanks for all of the answers. They were all just what I was looking for.

Both of the previous answers contain excellent suggestions. The Motorcycle Safety Foundation (http://www.msf-usa.org) and the American Motorcyclist Assn (http://www.ama-cycle.org) are two of the best resources for motorcycle riding information in the USA.

I would also recommend you check with your local motorcycle dealers to see if there are any local clubs or organizations in your area who sponsor motorcycle related activities such as poker runs, rallies, fun rides or tech days.

Don't forget while you're shopping for that first motorcycle, to invest in a good quality helmet and riding gear too.

Here are some helpful links with a lot of information about motorcycle. I personally subscribe to SportRider and Motorcyclist magazine. They always have product reviews, comparisons and columns about riding your motorcyle safely. A lot of technical information too.

And they have good books at the library. Motorcycles for dummies. It is very helpful, and amusing.
