This has to be something you didn't expect anything in exchange for.

I gave a homeless man the last of all me change knowing fully well it was the last of any money I had. So may call it stupid, but he ate and that's all that mattered to me.

He looked so pathetic out there I couldn't just walk past. Besides, it would not have been the Christian thing for me to do especially since I know what it's like to be homeless. Never had to stay on the streets or had to beg , but I still felt his pain.

It may sound funny but to me the nicest thing I ever did was put money in the parking meter for a woman who was struggling to get her kid out of the car and into the stroller. I don't even recall if she saw me do it or not, but I know she would have appreciated that she wouldn't have to fumble for change and could just get on her way after.

It's not the most financially generous thing I've done for a stranger, yet the most poignant in my mind.

A few weeks ago I saw a person ruffling through a trash bag looking for bagels (i think it was outside a bakery, it was night). I only had a $50 bill so I just walked over and handed it over. They were stunned and very grateful, and my friend was like wow. I was like we're gonna spend that much in the parking lot, so at least this person doesn't have to eat trash tonight.

Another time I was waiting in line at the airport to buy my ticket. An elderly woman was $1 short and holding up the line while she was looking for her dollar. I just reached over and handed the agent a dollar, he printed her ticket and had it ready before she even realized it. She was so grateful once she realized what happened and couldn't stop thanking me. It was only a dollar but to her it was a big deal!

As I got on the (same!) plane later, she grabbed my arm and thanked me again.

I think the good things we do are more a reflection on how the other person receives it, and not the magniture of our own self-importance in the issue.

When it comes to the best things someone has done for someone else, I think that helping a fellow human being out of a tense and stressful situation ranks up there pretty high. Seeing a person's shoulders slowly drop in relief as tension and stress begin to melt away, seeing eyes become watery, cheeks puff up, and lips pucker in a struggle to express appreciation and retain composure at the same time can be pretty moving. I'll tell you, when you see that in a person you've helped out, you know you've done something that you can be proud to write home about. I know that such an experience leaves me with a warm fuzzy feeling every time.

I bought my friends 3 boys Christmas, with the help of some friends, we came up with over $500.

She is a single mom working 2 jobs, and hardly makes ends meet, so we decided to suprise her (and the boys) with a huge Christmas.

And of course we didn't expect anything in return, it was a gift, and knowing it made the boys day (and their mom's) was awesome!

the best thing I did for someone was save their life, in words ofcourse. My non-friend [didn't really know what we were] hated herself and had very loww self-esteem. She was cutting herself so I sent her to a place where they talk about that stuff for weeks and you have to live there with other ppeople like you. Every since she came back [a few days ago] I tell her she's beautiful, which she is

I try to help people out all the time. I try to be a good person. I think it is rude to ask or expect anything in return.

I gave away money to people I barely knew who needed it. Roughly $100, five times I think. Also, I've driven people who were hitchhiking lots of extra miles and fed them.

Helped raise over $71,000 for our local children's hospital. It took 3 days and afterwards I was physically, mentally and emotionally exhausted, but it was well worth it!

took in my friends and their children and didn't ask for a single penny even though they put me severely in debt. I am much wiser now, I was only 19 then.
