For the most part, Adam is correct. I would like to add though, that many times a ridge of rust will build up on the inside edge of the drum, making it VERY difficult to remove. I usually put a large screwdriver between the drum and the backing plate and pull it towards me with moderate pressure (not enough to bend anything!) and hit the opposite side with a hammer. This will generally pop the drum off. If the rust ridge is too large for even that, you'll have to back-off the brake auto-adjusters until the drum will slide past the brake shoes. HTH!!

If it has a center nut, unthread it.
Heres the trick:
With a hammer tap around the outside of the drum, where the pad would touch the brake, go around the entire drum and then pull the drum off.
