Well let me see if i can narrow it down.For catching it is hands down Jason Varitek,by far the best catcher and captain of ALL time,for pitching I have ALOT,but i think I will give the title to Jonathan Papelbon.He is not only the best closer(besides Foulky and Timlin),but he is the best rookie:)for infield i am really starting to like Mike Lowell and Kevin Youkilis[poor Youk,he keeps getting hit:(],for outfield i guess i will have to say....Manny Ramirez.don't get me wrong i absolutely LOOOOVE all of the players,but there is just something about Manny:)and last but definitely not least for DH i am going to say Big Papi(and not because he is the only one,but because he is the BEST!!!!!!!!:)

My favorite player is Manny Ramirez.

But there are other i like but he my favorite.

Amiable "idiots" Johnny Damon and Kevin Millar had a way of laughing and coping and easing the Red Sox though times.

They've been replaced by quality players, from highly respected Mark Loretta and Mike Lowell.
to the young and talented Coco Crisp and Josh Beckett.

But the new guys don't have the club house cred yet to cajole Manny or to speak up when things go bad.

There are also questions about the health of Curt Schilling and Keith Foulke.
Plus the Sox were concerned enough about run protection to trade Bronson Arroyo for all-or nothing slugger Wily Mo Pena.

They even tried to sign Juan Gonzalez to a minor league deal.

But the biggest question is chemistry ;

Manny is my man. Besides being one of the best hitters the Red Sox have ever had, he plays the game the way it should be played: like a kid. There's something about his innocence and naivete. He reminds me of me when I was 7 or 8, playing baseball everyday, rooting for the Dodgers and everything was just swell.

i like Manny althouh i do not care for David "Boomer" Wells. I am an Astros fan and Wells tried to accuse Craig Biggio of taking steroids. He said something like It is odd that Biggio is old and he is still in great shape and has been putting up good numbers the past few years. I think Wells is just jeaslous cause he can't see his feet. Sorry had to get that out. GO ASTROS!!! GO RED SOX!!!

I would say it's a tie between Bob Stanley, Bill Buckner, or Tim Wakefield. You could throw in Mike Torrez too. All memorable moments in Red Sox history. I'm sorry I just read this is for Sox fans only. I'm a Sox hater

"Papi" and this is from the "Biggest" Yankee fan in the world....he is unblieveable, if only Alex was as "clutch" in the "clutch"....."Papi" was the MVP last year.....the "Sox" would have been nothing without him.....the Yankees would have been the same without Alex....Alex all-around is still the best.......just for the record Ron Guidry should have been the MVP in 1978 and not Jim Rice....you(Sox) blew the 13-16 game lead with him in....you could have done it without him...he was no help....without Guidry the Yankees would never have had the opportunity for Reggie (not Buckey Dent) hit the game winning homerun

Yep, the Red Sux are definitely going places. They'll be heading to a lot of places in October when the White Sox eliminate them in the ALDS again.

How about Ted Williams. I am glad that the Sox are doing good this year but Ted is the man.
