I thought I'd ask people who'd actually been there. My answers in another category have mostly been "write a letter" and "arm the citizenry."

I live in Kitwe, Zambia, and there is not a whole lot you can do from the US other than send money and petition the government to increase foreign aid. If he wants he can come and volunteer as a teacher (sooo many places need volunteer teachers). There are agricultural organizations that help Africans, like OxFam, or World Food Program.

If you are America, you can join the Peace Corps which is a outstanding organization. I think they have a website. Do a Yahoo Search on Peace Corps.
