How many of you have felt depressed when faced with that dreaded sign ??? Or when told not to smoke. So my question is.... were you a smoker and have you, in the last 1 year or two or even 3, managed to stop smoking ? (and never smoked again, of course ) I smoked for many, many years. With lots of fear that I would fail yet again but WILL power and a prayer... yes, a PRAYER, I have SUCCEEDED !!!! July 7th this year will be the first anniversary, one year without smoking. I hate the stuff now when I LOVED smoking until then. Now I feel more alive, I look better, AND I HAVE NOT PUT ON ANY SIGNIFICANT WEIGHT ! My question --- HAS ANY OF YOU SUCCEEDED in stopping TOO and if so please tell us about it !!! Maybe we can, this way, encourage others to stop too. You really don't know what it is like to stop and appreciate Nature more (fresher air, better sense of smell etc etc) until you have quit that horrendous and stupid habbit.
Hint, it is 1,000 times easier to stop than you think.

Thank you so far to those who have congratulated me. More important are those who would like to stop but THINK they can't. I couldn't believe it when I discovered that the nicotine addiction plays a VERY SMALL part in the difficulty tostop smoking. it is 100 % PSYCHOLOGICAL !!! I JUST COULD NOT BELIEVE IT. How the hell do I make others see it too ? I stopped by using NiQuitin, chewing gum. I tried it reluctantly thinking it was a gimmick !!! I was at my PC at the time and two hours laters I remembered "Gosh I haven't felt the need for a cigarette for TWO hours. Coud it be the NiQuitin Chewing Gum. IT WAS ! My advice is DONT stop smoking and have your cigw nearby ONLY stick a nicotine chewing gum in your mouth and distract yourself with something (Yahoo Answers with me, LOL) BEFORE a cigarette and I feel confident you will succeed like I did. Listen I was a coward when it came to cigarettes, no bravery at all in my case. The LOVELY nicotine chewing gum did it ALL. Please try it!

Congratulations!
My husband and I stopped maybe 8-10 years ago. We just got tired of going outside, in the winter at work to smoke. We used the patch. You don't even have a crave for smoking with the patch. I did take a puff in the beginning. Then I said why? I got nothing out of it. I hate smoking now. I can't beleive that people still smoke.

Yes I succeeded this August of this year will be five years. I do have cravings every so often and sometimes they are really bad. All I do is talk to my husband and he's very supportive and helps me through the cravings. I have had crazy dreams where I'm smoking and then wake up and realize it was just a dream, but ever since I have stopped smoking I have felt so good and look good as well. Good luck and hope you continue with your progress.

CONGRATS TO YOU !!! i have always been a non-smoker, BUT my Mom had smoked for over 30 years when her doctor told her she'd better quit & she did !!! She started having only 1 on the way to work & 1 on the way home for about a month. Then the next month she would only have 1 on the way to work & NOT have 1 on the way home & this was from almost a pack a day smoker !!! She looks better, has more energy, feels better & SMELLS BETTER !!! There's NOTHING WORSE than the smell. I am so GLAD that my state of WA has outlawed smoking in BARS & ALL RESTAURANTS !!!
God Bless & Keep up the GREAT WORK !!!

people get addicted to the nicotine in the tobacco, which is why it's so hard for people to quit using.

I've always been a non-smoker, but I wanted to send you a great CONGRATULATIONS! YOU DID IT! for quitting.

You've got your life back! Isn't it great to be able to breathe, smell, and taste?!

If you really want to stop you will. Your not addicted, you just have that mindset, if you really want to stop you will. Like when you become prego, you quit cold turkey for the sake of your child, so why cant u for the sake of ur body and health?
