It's by a comedy show called Spitting Image, in the 90's I think. But is it true?

Has anyone ever met a nice South African, or is it going to be bloody suprising mate?

I am a South African and I am very nice... to other South Africans. Unfortunately, when encountering foreigners who believe or subscribe to the above, the response becomes a reation. I think another possibility that we come across as not "nice" is because we live in a society that is quite severe. There isn't much space for small talk - show me who you are and I'll show you who I am - lets not waste time being "polite" and drinking tea. I think that's the way South Africans see things.

Yes - saw a pirated copy of the skit when it came out. It was in the 80's. The Show ran from 1984 - 1996.

It's as true as the Queen Mother having Gin & Tonic tattooed on her knuckles. Funny that all the actors sang in an Australian accent.

I've met plenty of nice South Africans Nelson Mandela, Desmond Tutu, Charlize Theron, Janet & Helen Suzman, Christopher Hope.

Most of the really nasty South Africans like Anthony Sher seem happy living in the UK.

Yeah it was aimed at the aparteid regime. I think it was also released as a single (in Britain at least) but didn't do very well.

Have you seen Vanessa Nimmo From Big Brother (UK) in 2004. She's a very nice south african. Download some pictures and you'll see what I mean.

I think all the good ones left South Africa ages ago. All the ones I've met recently have been from the bottom of the barrell.
