Everyone has their own view of what is beautiful. That phase means that someone can see things as beautiful in a way that no one else can. It's not just something on the outside.

Simple not everyone see beauty the same way , what is heart stopping and out of this world gorgeous to one, may be not even worth a look to someone else & thank goodness it is like this can you imagine what it would be like if everyone liked the same thing in other people only a very small amount of people would ever find their true love & the rest of us would be out there starving for love & effection worth thinking about don't you think hehehe ....have a nice day

Beauty is subjective or subject to interpretation. A tall guy may think Heidi Klum is gorgeous, statuesque. A short guy may feel intimidated (and ill equipped) and therefore might think (or "claim") she's amazon, freakish. The quote, roughly translated, therefore means whether or not someone is attractive is subject to the tastes (the "eye" if you will) of the person looking (the "beholder").

This means that "beauty" is a relative concept, i.e it can mean different things to different people. Something one person finds beautiful, can be equally abhorent to the other. It depends on people's perception.
That is what this phrase means. Hope this helps. =)

What do you think it means? I think it means that we all percieve beauty different. Some people find Paris Hilton attractive, yet I don't see anything beautiful about her. I find Picasso paintings beautiful, and my wife doesn't. We perceive beauty different. It doesn't apply to my looks, it applies to how I see the looks of other people.

It means that someone's beauty is determined by the person looking at him/her. I may think someone is absolutely beautiful, yet another person may not think that person is at all attractive. So it is all the perception of the person doing the "looking."
