Is marriage NOTHING, as Angelina Jolie says it is, or is it SOMETHING worthwhile?

Are many Hollywood stars a trashy bunch, or what?

If you're married, what do you think about Angelina Jolie saying that marriage is nothing?

Does Jolie need to forgive her father, Jon Voight, and let him see his grandchildren?

Marriage is something valuable, unless your're that rich and self absorbed. And then its nothing. Lets all be glad that we are not them.

Angelina Jolie has been married and divorced twice already, and she's what...30 yrs. old? That's not a good track record. It's usually a mistake to get married just because you want to be married, and end up settling for the wrong person. When you find the right person, and sometimes it takes a long time, you know it, and then the decision to get married should be something that you both want to do. You can be committed without the piece of paper, but being married really is a great way for two people to formally declare their love and commitment to each other.

Well, I don't really care what Angelina thinks or doesn't think...she doesn't hold any more weight because she's been in some movies and has money...

That said, "marriage" is only a ceremony and a piece of paper. It's what two people in a committed relationship *do* that has meaning, whether they're married or not. I've known couples never married that were together 20+ years, totally committed to each other, and living very happily -- they just didn't feel the need to have that piece of paper. I've also known married couples that fight, hate each other, hurt each other...are they better than non-married couples who are living happily because they have a piece of paper? Don't think so...

If you commit your life to your partner, treat them as the most important thing in the world, and do everything you can to make them happy, then you'll have a good life. You don't need a ceremony sanctioned by some church or civil authority to add anything to your life. All marriage really is, is a public pronouncement of two people's commitment to stay together. I'm married, but I'd have the same relationship with my wife if we weren't married...

She helped in breaking up a marriage. She had a child out of wedlock and flaunts the fact. The poor child. He is now labeled
a bastard. Facts are facts. Wonder if anyone has brought that fact up to her. Marriage is more worth while than she will ever know even if she were to get married. So many of us have come to just wink at what is wrong and change the name of it so the sound is better. Changing the name of a sin and immoral act does not make the act right. God would not have recognized marriage and even performed a wedding if it wasn't worthwhile.

Hasn't Angelina Jolie been divorced several times? I think that the only reason she would say something like that would because it did not work for her in the past. It is her attitude and people who think like her that the divorce rate is so high. Marriage means something different to everyone, if it means nothing to her, than it's probably not worth doing because she won't take it seriously and it won't end up working out. If you take it seriously, and don't see divorce as the easy way out, and you actually believe that MARRIAGE IS FOR LIFE, DIVORCE IS NOT THE EASY WAY OUT than yes it is worthwhile.

Marriage is a sacred thing. It is a commitment through good and bad, ups and downs...it takes a lot of work, but imagine the road you are traveling and how much better it could be with someone on the same path. Marriage is cool. Angelina may not know everything about marriage, but she does help a lot of poor people in other countries. You have to admire her for that.

I don't think AJ cares what the society thinks, and I respect her for that. Some people just get married just because they have a child together, and frankly, if that is the only reason you're getting married then you're marrying for the wrong reason. If you marry just because you are pressured by others or because it is the "tradition", then you're doing it for others and not for yourself. I don't know why she doesn't want to get married, and I'm sure she has her reasons... she doesn't need to explain herself to the media or to any of us. But what I know is this: she has probably learned something having been divorced twice.

You marry when the time is right and after you've carefully assessed your situation (especially a situation like hers which is sticky), and you'll be good.

The answers tha will be given to this question may differ from individuals to individuals because everybody sees marriage in a different way.It depends on what one wants from marriage that may either let him or her attaches much importance to it.Maybe Angelina Jolie cannot find what she wants from marriage and sees it to be unimportant and perhaps waste of time.
As for me i will love to marry a woman who can help me achieve what i want from marriage and vice versa.How does God see marriage to be?I hope He cherish it Because He instituted it from the genesis of the world and out of marriage God encourages childbearing and it also serves as a means to show love to one another and enjoy each others company.
I believe that through marriage i can have the opportunity to enter the kingdom of God provided i come across a God-fearing woman.Marriage is important.

Angelina Jolie is a homewrecker, she is an angry woman who is looking to fill the huge void in her life, she will never be truly happy if she continues in her walk, no matter how many kids she "saves", gives birth to or how many good looking Brad Pitts (who also obviously have their own problems) walk in and out of her life. marriage is very valuable it's a wonderful part of life
and as far as Miss Jolie goes--- she is nothing more than a skanky- trashy- homewrecker and i dislike her very very much! (side note- Brad Pitt is a stupid jerk too- don't think i'm blaming Angelina for everything!) and yep i think alot of hollywood stars are trashy and alot of what they do is just to get attention- its all about the publicity!
