I think it's more for foreigners....In America we drive on the Right side of the road and need to look in the opposite directions for traffic in the UK. It's to help avoid accidents///deaths.

Because we live in an increasingly litigious society and if they weren't painted on the road and someone was knocked down, they would sue the council.

We don't, but the rest of Europe drives on the wrong side of the road, so we have to keep them from getting killed.

It's not for us, it's for visitors..... and we're not so arrogant or insular that we think that our way of doing things is the only way, so we make allowances for others, like good world citizens ;)

it's for the tourists.its useful if you arent used to it. i almost got hit like that once
