This really depends on your basic orientation towards life and how good a sense of adventure you have. If you are (sadly) oriented towards reality, you should probably only consider visiting one. After all, the impermanence of it, and all that...one good wave...need I say more?
If however, like me, you love fantasy, then a Sandcastle is a wonderful place to live! It's easily expandable to hold just about any size of party. If I don't like it, I can just let it wash away and build a new and better one the next day. And people always Oooh and Aaah over them - I think they secretly wish they were brave enough to live in one, don't you??? My Unicorn likes it there as well and so do my Elvish friends.

Hmm, I'm feeling transience today. The humming and buzzing of "appearances". A room in a stone castle eroding with the swirl of air, it's capital exuding beyond it's stasis, squishing under footsteps. Home is something we retreat to. Distinct from the naval vessel which constantly reminds one of their peril. Behind the firm walls and moat. But like everything "outside" that escape to edifices and foundations aren't available. An assault on that private space is the idea of 'visitation'. Even in the most secure shelter -- your concept of it is hiding a more fundamental impossibility of absolute security.

Good insulation. Low upkeep. Near the beach. How can you go wrong? Live there.
