I think, yes life is sad. People are (for the most part) self absorbed and live a pseudo moralistic lifestyle. We hold this "be yourself" ideology but anyone who does live their life their own way is considered an outcast. We also do what's good for ourselve and few of us who already have all our needs met do little to help others. We are spoiled, and laugh at the misfortune of others.
Now on the flip side
Historically the world has been dog eat dog. We, for tens of thousands of years, had to worry about where our next meal was coming from or even if we'd survive the day. If you got a simple infection you could have lost limbs or even died from it. The world back then, by our standards of today, would be considered "unfair". We cry today about death and murder, but these were what we dealt with all the time.
Then we started to form civilizations. Of course, these were corrupt, people still starved and died from horrible diseases, and life was again,"unfair". Now you look how far society had to go in developements and improvements in medicine and technology. Flash forward to where we are now you can actually look at life pretty optimistically. We now have food available for everyone, medicine for the sick, and a chance to move ahead in life. This doesn't exist in every country of course, and yes there are people who need medicine/food that don't get it, but for the most part, majority of the people on this earth are getting their basic necessities. We just seem to have stopped appreciating it. You have all your needs met and you can move ahead in life. How sad can that be?

No! Life is a miracle. Marcus Aurelius said it best:
"Life is what your thoughts make it."
If you are feeling sad, 90% of the time it is because
you are thinking too selfishly. Go outside, watch
the trees move in the wind, smile at somebody...
the vitamins from the sun and the chemicals
of adrenaline and pheromone are ever present to help
make life beautiful. Drink lots of water to keep
vital nutrients like tryptophan and seratonin rich and
flowing. Not assuming you are sad, just sharing.

I don't think I can speak for more than me here... but I ALWAYS love life, no matter what happens - even though i often hate it some at the same time. I'd say, no, life isn't sad overall.

If life is sad for you then life is what you made it. No reason for life to be sad. Every day of mu life is a good day. some better than others but all are good. If I wake in the morning it has to be a good day. If I don't then........

Life is not sad. It is a great adventure. There are sad points, but in the end it is what you make of it. Decide that it is not sad and it will not be!

It depends on what you do in your life. It has sad points like relatives dying, but it also has points that are fun like parties. So it's sad if you let the bad stuff drag you down, but if you don't then it's not sad.

i think this question doesn have an answer.... b'coz some people get neverending happiness via only a smile a stranger passes them n others may not b happy even though the world comes into their command... also da thing is with whom to compare the sadness/happiness with... thus its meaningless to say whether life is full of happiness or grief... b satisfied n work for the betterment... i hope u get this.....

I think so, in general, knowing that there's no afterlife, supernatural beings or spirits running around, or angels and tooth fairies to comfort us, or santa claus to give us gifts once a year.....wah, i liked believing in the Wizard, why do we always have to see that man behind the curtain?
