In the human genome, humans have a base height that is added to the height genes. so if both parents have half tall genes and half short genes (lets just say T for tall and t for short), like the mother may have TtTTtt and the father may have ttTtTT, the the child may turn out many ways, for example it could receive all three tall genes from the mother and all three tall genes from the father (TTTTTT) or it could receive all three short genes from the mother and all three short genes from the father (tttttt) or it could be any combination in-between.(TTtTtT, TTtTTT, TtttTt,...). However, if both the parents are have all short genes (both have tttttt) then the only combination possible for the child is tttttt, and the same goes for the tall genes. There is one more major possibility, but the parents would not be the same height. If the mother had all short genes (tttttt) and the father had all tall genes (TTTTTT) then the child would have 3 short genes and 3 tall genes (TtTtTt not necessarily in that order). Also keep in mind that there are more than 6 genes that control height. And just to screw things all up, height depends on more that genetics (environment, eating habits, sports, injuries...). To make things more complicated, other genes indirectly affect height.

Depends, children can also inherit genes from either set of grandparents as well.
I have four sisters and we range in height from 5 foot, to 5 foot 9. Our parents are similar in height to each other.

Genetics aren't that simple. You need to look at the maternal & paternal sides of both family for at least 2-3 generations back to get an idea on how tall children might be.

My parents have similar height but I am taller than them. I think it's due to the food and exercise. Nowaday, most of the foods are very good in nutrient. At least it's better than my parents' generation.
P.S. My parents are around 5.4' cm and I am 5.6' tall.

kids of today tend to be taller than their parents. Genes form a big part of their height but other enviromental factors like food and their community affects growth either negatively or positively.

My mother's parents were both about 5'10" she got her grandmother's genes and is 5'5". I'm the shortest in my family at 5'2" and I have siblings, uncles, aunts, cousins, almost all at least 5" taller. It's all about genetics. You can get the genes of your great-great-great-grandmother and have red hair when everyone else in your family is a blond.

Children seem to be taller than their parents now adays especially the last child...so chances are they will be at least as tall as their parent and the youngest taller.

Depends on a lot of genetic material... Child could be a throw-back to an earlier ancestor and be taller or smaller...
Might even have other traits... NO WAY TO TELL, unless they bring in designer babies...
