Lots of bad people get assassinated as well. Nobody pays much attention and it gets forgotten.
We only miss and remember the good people.

Those ppl that you mentioned tried to change an order that the ppl at that time was not ready for it. So when you make a change and it goes against natural society then you kill it. To try and stop that change from taking place. Jesus death was predicted, Lincoln the Southern folks hated him and still wanted to keep slavery. MLK he wanted racial justice for us Black folks living in America where it was separated by the color Of our skin, By the way did any Hispanics take part in this? Why are the illegals so upset then? MLK was opening a way that American then and now had to recognize it is wrong to discriminate on color. Ghandi Man of much valour although clearly not enough recognition same as Mother Theresa both of India! They tried to bring some attention to the matters of the Indian ppl. the poverty that plagued India so long ago.

What's this 'we' stuff?
These nice people were very divisive to some people. They changed the established order, which many people violently resist (e.g. the insurgency in Iraq).
-Jesus was a threat to the established religious orders of his time.
-Lincoln was a threat to the established institution of slavery in the Democrat south.
-MLK, Jr was a threat to the established institution of segregation in the Democrat south.
Gandhi, I'm not too familiar with the circumstances and will not comment.
[sorry about the cheap shots at the Dems, but they deserve it] ;)

Because people are very afraid of change. Each of the examples given represented a great change in the status quo.
And incidently, to bblbb647, yes we are assassinating, killing, whatever you wish to call it, members of Al Qaeda. They deserve far worse because of the assassinations, killings, murders, etc...they carry out and advocate all over the world.

When you say we you must be including yourself. So you tell me why would you do something like that?
I haven't assasinated anyone and I don't advocate assasination.
