I'm not Indian, but if some guy wanted to marry me without my father's permission, I would not be down with that. It's tradition and that can be important to some people. Obviously not you, but for your boyfriend. If you married him, it would be his marriage too, so it would also be good that he be comfortable with how that marriage begins.

Well it sounds like he loves you! You said he is Indian, so I am assuming he is from India? This may be a part of his culture, and if you are of a different cuture or race, he may want to be sure that the parents are aware and are agreeable with your marriage? How old are you all? That may be one of the factors also. I think parents should be told/asked if one of their children is considering marriage! Wouldn't you want your folks to be at the wedding? Wouldn't you want to have a nice wedding? Are your religions different? Maybe he wants all of these issues to be thoroughly discussed before you get married so there is no misunderstanding later!
I think it's a good idea to speak to parents first too!

Don't get upset, this is the typical way of Indian tradition & thinking. It might sound foolish, but it too has its good sides. If u want to marry him, first get to know the Indian way of life well enough and decide if it suits u. BEST OF LUCK

Your man loves you and your family and wants to have a happy life with you and thats not gonna happen unless you have the parents concent! You shouldnt get mad at him you should thank God you have a man that cares about everything to make you happy.

I am sure he does or you would not be together. But it is tradition and culture that drives him to get permission from his parents.
