I make it a policy,of never, regardless of how good the offer is, to accept anything a cold caller is trying to sell me.
These companies persist in calling me, and as I work nights wake me up constantly.
I have two family members who are ill and may need to contact me in an emergency, so switching off is not an option.
I find that the invasion of my privacy to sell me the latest in double glazing technology or the super-dupa mobile phone contract is an insult.
Take out an advert or post me some of your Junk Mail and I will choose for myself, but please don't knock on my door or call my number.
These companies techniques need to be banned or the Directors should supply their 24hr contact number so I can call them when it is more convenient to do so, like 0300hrs.
What do you think?

I agree. If you're in the UK, register with the Telephone Preference Service through BT. It takes about a month but they will stop.

I suggest this reverse phone lookup service: http://reversephone.toptips.org
It's a cheap service that works great!
It could be used for a much deeper search. You can use it to get hold of different varieties of background reports, and in addition cell numbers, addresses and names..
you can get unlimited reports... I ran with this because I required to verify more numbers. You can get the name, other phone number, address history, relatives, and much more about anyone!
The completly free reverse phone lookup generally doesn't provide anything interesting. To get interesting information, money will must be paid. The free searches don't provide considerably more than what may be found through the phone directory.
The reverse phone detective search tool does work, but you should use just the service that I posted above. The last thing you want to do, is pay for a service and find the numbers you want to lookup are not available in their directory.
The service that I reccomend doesn't have any kind of problem , you won't get any bad surprise!

Get on a Do not call listing. No sure who has info on that, but try your phone company. When someone calls tell them to put you on their mailing list but please stop calling.
We got put on a do not call list and have been expereincing a lot less Cold Calling.
Generally when I get pissed off at them I just think about the person who is doing the job. I mean thats a suck asss job. And they are told by management to do it in that annoying way.
The work world is terrible.

reverse phone number search compiles hundreds of millions of phone book records to help locate the owner's name, location, time zone, email and other public information.
Use a reverse phone lookup to:
Get the identity of an unknown caller.
Identify an area code.
Recall the name of a person whose number you wrote down.
Identify an unfamiliar phone number that shows up on your bill.

I think the worst part is when it's blatantly obvious you're not interested (I don't mean by swearing at the people down the phone!) but you're constantly saying: "I'm really not interested, thank you" yet they insist on rabbiting on. Some people just can't take a hint!

If you are in the UK you can contact BT (if you are with BT) and bar those particular numbers, or all unrecognised or undisclosed numbers (this would not affect your family as you can programme their numbers in).
I hate hate hate cold calling - it's invasive and they ALWAYS call when you are in the bath or the shower!

I hate them too.
It is an area that badly needs to be tightened up.
It is another form of stalking!
Some of them are very persistent.

There are no tried and true techniques...if there were everyone would do it...it is what works for the individual and the company.
