The problem is that the Sudan government has been basically responsible for the 1,000,000 deaths in Darfur. They haven't solved anything, except to kill non-Muslims and non-Arab Muslims.
We care because of that 1,000,000 dead. As a human being, you should also care. But, alas, most people in the world do not care how many other people die, as long as their own interests are not affected.
We just think everybody should care. We wish Kofi Anan and the UN would care, since this type of thing was the main reason the UN was created to act against.

People of Darfur are being persecuted by Islamic religious zealots who are aligned with Al-Quaeda. The United Nations is being much too slow in reacting to help for the situation. They have been reluctant on many of these situations seen as internal struggles and refuse to get in early to resolve them and the people suffer from their lack of leadership.

Because Sudan would exterminate the non-Muslims, and have caused people to flee to neighboring Chad to avoid death, rape and violence. That makes it an international problem, not an American one, and it was Sudan that did it, not America.
