Theoritically,, timemachine can be built, but it is only for the past,, u can turn back to the past and can see it,,but never and never the future. As regard the past, the time machine theoritically can let u see the past with your own eyes,, but only as a movie or film and u can only watch but never interact with it,,to explain that,, we can see an object via the light which reflect from it and reach our eyes,,, so if we invent light which can move faster than the ordinary light and reflected from an object in front of us, then we will see this object from this light faster than the ordinary light,, Do u know what this means? it means u will see it before the ordinary time,, or in other words u will see it in the past,, according to that,, and according to the speed of light we can invent,, we can see the past move in front of us as a movie

Well, A time machine that will take you into the future is simple based on relativity principle. All you need is to sit in rocket and move it at close to the velocity of light. (need not voilate physics laws by thinking of exceeding velocities of light) and then return to earth. According to relativity the time is not constant but begins to slow down as the velocity approach the velocity of light. Einstein gave the time dilation concept . So what for you would be only a minute or so for the people who are not moving at relativistic speeds (people on earth) could be many-many years depending upon your velocity.
When you return back to earth after say a short journey(may be lasting only one minute), according to you, you would be in future. As many years as you want ,even thousands, millions .. depends on how fast your ship could have moved. ( But reaching relativistic velocities is not practically possible.. further discussion on this is beyond scope of forum) . When relativity was being discovered the following poem was doing rounds ..
There was a lady called miss bright
Who could travel faster than light
She went out one day
In a relativistic way
And came back the previous night.
