well the beatles of course --probably the best --most diverse song writers ever!!--they recorded on the most primitive equipment ever --yet their recordings will stand up to todays standards!!!---and i agree with you on led zeppelin---those guys were pioneers--they had no blueprint to follow--created a style all their own!!---all you gotta do is hear the 1st few notes of any of their songs and you can tell who it is!!!

I would have to say Pink Floyd at least I believe they are considered rock. The guitar rifts and the deep lyrical content. I also like Zeppelin I could listen to them both all day.

that is such a hard one to choose. but I will choose metallica because thats who i grew up listening to. i didn't start listening to led zeppelin until i got a little older. and metallica is just freakin amazing. were you able to catch them when they were touring with godsmack? talk about whoa!

they are more legendary and their contribution to rock is more influential than metallica though I do like both

1. great lyrics
2. john bonham was one of the best drummers of all time
3. you can hear the individual guitar notes (metallica is all fuzz)
4 . led zeppelin isn't that obnoxious
