the flower cannas love a wet sandy area,and they love water so it will help absorb the water from that area.they grow from 2ft,to about five feet tall and come in many colors with beatiful flowers!and they come back every year.they are almost fool proof,meaning anyone can grow them!

Daylillies seem to do good in wet environment. They loved growing around the creek at my grandparents house.

large elephant ears-- caladiums-- don't know how far north you are-- both of these won't winter over without care. The elephant ears will get huge with that amount of water-- and will be a type of screen in the summer.

I don't know the proper english name but the naupaka grow's beautiful near oceans side not only because of it's uniqueness (the flowers of the naupaka only grow's in half) but also because of what it stands for.
