Iam a size 8 shoe.Bought some Berghaus walking boots at that size,they seem to fit ok with ordinary socks but would like to wear thicker socks.Any tips on maybe making the boots a little bigger to accomodate the socks?ie Can they be stretched at all?

Take them to a shoe repair shop and get it done professionally. It is not too expensive and you will be glad to get it done correctly.

Well it's always best to buy walking boots a little bigger than your usual size to allow for the thick socks you will need to wear for serious hiking. That said, many good walking socks these days are a lot thinner than you'd think so it might be worth you checking out the more expensive socks at your nearest outdoors/camping shop as they'll probably fit inside your boots nicely. I don't think it is possible to really stretch your boots, but wearing them in around the house, garden and on short walks to start off with, perhaps with thicker socks on, should make them feel more comfortable.

simply.....
first of all u will try to change them and if is it not possible then simply wet ur feet and then wear the boot in these wet feet
after some min u take off the boot then again wear the shoes after dry the feet then u feel a little diffrence in the size of the boot try it and it can be
then 1 or 2 times do it again then the size is accorate
an other solution giveur boot to other person who has a little big size he wears ur shoes then after some time size is increase and complete ur requirement....try it

You probably should have bought the next 1/2 size! Especially if you're going to be walking in them.
If you can, I'd take them back.
If you can't, I think you're going to have to stick to thin socks, otherwise, you're going to end up with blisters.
I'm personally not aware of any way to stretch them out... but maybe there is. And it sounds like you'd need to stretch them another 1/2 size. Try to take them back.

You can definately have shoes stretched if they are a good quality. I believe they can stretch them up to 1/2 a size. If there is no place for you to have this done, (a cobbler) you can also buy wooden stretchers and do it yourself. You should be able to get the stretchers at Wal-Mart, Target, someplace like that.

If they have a closed toe, cut off the toe of a sock and slip it over the toe of your foot. That will sometimes do the trick. Also, they make stick on things for the inside of the heel part that keeps your foot from slipping up and down as you walk. You could try those. Good luck!! : }

try wearing thick socks it may make them a bit tight in the begining but later they shall be fine with normal socks

There is such a thing as a shoe stretcher. Go to a shoe repair store and they could help you out.

ask someone with slightly bigger feet to walk around in them for you for awhile. That's what I did with my sister, she would stretch out my shoes for me.
