Go for a walk up and down the thames path - you'll see lots of history enroute. On the south side of the river, you'll find the Globe theatre, Tate Modern (art gallery), oxo tower and look out for the blue plaques (they show a bit extra history). You can walk all the way down to tower bridge! If you cross the millenium bridge at the Tate Modern, go for a walk round St Pauls cathedral.

there are so many free attractions in London- you can see so much just walking on the south bank, then across westminster bridge and up whitehall to trafalgar square and down the mall to Buckingham Palace- if you don't like walking then an open topped bus won't break the bank and you will see so much in a short space of time.
Enjoy your stay!!

There's tons of sightseeing that you can do; also there are walking tours that are selfguided through pamphlets that are available at the tourist centers. People watching is lots of fun in London; just hang out in a cafe and you'll have a blast.

Loads! Really too many to list here!
Try:
http://www.londonfreelist.com/home.asp
http://www.londontourist.org/attractions.html
Both excellent websites. The second has a very nice chatty feel to it and claims to protect you (somewhat) by exposing some of the tourist scams (which aren't as bad as the ones in Bangkok!)

Tourist Baiting, insult your MP, throw things at the ducks, throw ducks at things, drawing on walls, banging on doors and windows, asking Chelsea Tractor drivers if 4WD is necessary on the embankment, having your say at Speakers Corner.
