when i insert a disk to play it reads it for like 2 seconds but doesnt play its supposse to lpay in drive E on my computer and I did a test on drive e and it says it functioning properly but no matter what kinda of disk i put in it doesnt play

may be the BUS is not correctly pinned???
contactt your HardWare meerhcant and complaint about it?

if i understand correct, the drive does NOT READ
- write comes later
try nero or similar software and check if it helps u diagnose

maybe the problem is with ur writer.........to get a free one and one that works....go to oldversion.com...and download their cd writer....otherwise, try uninstalling ur writer and then installing it again

i guess the cd you have inserted is blank or its not burnt properly
