I got my first ultrasound at about 13 weeks, and my doctor told me I wasnt going to get another one until about 24 weeks, I was able to get mine at 22 weeks, and they saw what the baby was clearly. But it mainly depends on your doctor, they normally wait until you are about 20-26 weeks pregnant, because MOST doctors wont have you get more than 2 ultrasounds while pregnant unless it is for medical reasons. So it is best to wait until your doctor schedules you, or you will have to wait until the baby is born to find out what it is if you get your 2nd ultrasound too early. Plus there are quite a few people who cant find out what their baby is until it is born because of how the baby is positioned, I got lucky and my baby had his legs spread wide open!!

You will not be able to decipher the baby's gender until at least 16 weeks, most docs do an ultrasound around 18-20 weeks to check for normal development and they will be able to tell as much as any then. Best wishes

All doctors are differant. I know that I got one early on in the pregnancy and then another one at 4 months by an ultrasound professional outside my doctors office. He could tell the sex at 4 months. Your regular doctor may or not be able to tell at that point though.

Most doctors order the routine ultrasound at about 20 weeks. By then, the baby is big enough and well developed enough that they can see the brain, kidneys, bones, etc.

Usually the doctors wait until you are about 20 weeks. It's much easier to tell the sex then because of the size of the baby.
