While I certainly don't agree with murder, in the case of the war on terror, the Iraqi police, and our military were able to successfully search 17 other locations just following the hit on Zarqawi. Since zarqawi was the most outspoken insurgent representing al-qaida in Iraq, with ties across the world to other cells, the only thing that putting him to trial would mean is that in our eyes he's guilty. But, it sends a strong message to others involved in terrorism that if you choose to follow this same path, this could happen to you. This victory for the iraqis is very important as they've grown tired of the violence he has bestowed on their area. We may have gotten additional intelligence from talking to Zarqawi, though I doubt this to be the case. I don't think he would cave to the authorities on anything even under pressure. With Zarqawi jailed, he would continue to have faithful followers. With Zarqawi out of commission, who can his followers look to?

I agree that they got him the best way they could. Now he (and the 7 men with him) won't kill, terrorize or torture anymore.

I believe they would have been put to death if they were put on trial.

Yes i agree with his death and quite happy also.Even though i am a muslim guy but still insists that he is a terrorist as he killed mostly innocent people....al-qaida is a terrorists source!

put on trial, there would have been more a sense of closure, and justice being served.

I dunno about a trial, those fireworks caused by the bombs destroying the house he was in was pretty spectacular. ;-)
