Have you ever noticed if women say "We rule" they are percieved as empowered, confident, strong, yet if men say "We rule" they are percieved as barabaric, chauvanistic, and arrongant? Many women will boldy say "My husband knows his place...." with no rebuke. However, if a man says "My wife knows her place..." he is instantly shunned. Again, if women say "We should get rid of all men." she may be rewarded a hardy laugh. If a man, though, says "We should get rid of all women." he is percieved as insensitive and sexest. Such is the case with many comments of this type.

Is it that society pities women? Do we allow women to say such things because we know it is far from true? Do we shun men who say such things because it has been and is true?

These are solely my thoughts and questions. Wheather or not you agree, please explain your answers.

Thank you, in advance, for your valuable time. I appreciate it.

I don't think you can say that feminism is hypocritical. Many individuals certainly are!! Of your examples, "We rule!" seems (to me) relatively meaningless whether spoken by a man or woman, but the other two are certainly rude at best and hypocritical at worst (except *maybe* if used ironically) regardless of who is saying it about whom.

My suspicion is that the reason one is more acceptable in polite society is that it's "reverse discrimination"--nobody actually believes that "all [or even most] men" *could* be "gotten rid of", whereas it frequently has happened that men did their best to harm women.

It is very unfair. Nowadays, I have noticed, when people are crying for "equal rights", they generally mean "special rights". There was an instance on national television of the exact thing you're talking about.

A news reporter (female) ws doing a story on a bride who was jilted at the altar. At one point, she joked to the bride, "Have you considered castration as an option?" Nobody objected. If they were doing a story on a man jilted at the altar, and a male reporter chuckled and asked "Have you considered cutting off her breasts?" He would probably go to jail for it.

I think that in the past when men said similar things about women, no one chided them. The table has been turned, and it's politically incorrect to chide a woman when they talk like that. Nonetheless, it's still rude and even ridiculous for any woman to talk about men like that. Men need women just as much as women need men.

Honestly, I think it goes both ways. Feminism is often looked down upon by Masculine people, and vise versa. It all depends on the person.

There are double standards for anything nowadays.

Black guy calls a white guy a cracker, not much happens.

White guy calls a black guy any sort of racial slur and they're just about strung up.

See how equal and fair they want to be treated when it comes for picking up the check for dinner.

It's all part of being a screaming liberal.

I disagree. My husband & I joke all the time over who wears the pants, over who's the "boss" etc. But because I know him, and know what he means, I don't consider that chauvanistic.

Maybe it just WHO says it, and not WHAT they say?
