There are exercise classes specifically geared towards pregnant women.
Stay away from running, jogging, and abdominal exercises. If the doctor takes you off your feet at any point in your pregnancy you should stop all exercise routines. "Off your feet" doesn't necessarily mean total bed rest they could be telling you to go ahead and do your daily chores as long as your off your feet twenty minutes every two hours, but that is still a signal that your body is being over worked, and presenting possible harm to you and/or your baby.

Low impact is OK, but after about 6 months nothing that involves balance, like biking, climbing, rollerblading, or the tree position in yoga. Your center of gravity shifts and the cartilage between bones softens to allow baby more growing space. (That's why you get the waddle.) Anyway you're much more likely to fall and get hurt. In any case ask your Doc first. Oh, and don't be surprised if your feet grow a size and don't shrink back. Four kids ago my feet were an 8 1/2, now I'm a 10 wide.

My ob/gyn said it was okay to continue most exercises you were already doing before pregnancy, but not to start anything my body wasn't already used to.
