I called my bf in his cellphone but a voice said, "The number you dialed is not yet in service. Please check the number." I ask him if his mobile phone was disconnected but he simply replied that he was in a game store and there was no signal. Even inside the storage room in his workplace there was no signal.Could this be possible or my bf is lying?Coz I've been trying to call his phone but the same thing happens. It says that the number was not yet in service.Really need your ideas.

in reality, the radio frequencies can bounce off buildings. Signals may also go through buildings with plenty of windows.

The thicker the obstacle, the more difficult it is for the cell phone user. Even when a transmitter is just a quarter of a mile away, intervening buildings can block reception.

But a clear landscape does not guarantee a better signal. On elevated bridges, with clear lines of sight, if the network is configured in a certain way, the calls may be handed off to the wrong cell site. For example, driving across the Brooklyn Bridge, the signal may jump to a cell in New Jersey, which is too far away to provide good reception.

Verizon came to my house in NJ when I had problems with my house phone line. The repairman said that the hub for the DSL was causing problems because to my line because they were in the process of upgrading it and cell towers were being added as well. I know several parts of NJ where my cell calls just drop. I think it also depends on your service. I know friends with Nextel who constantly drop calls or get no service. I switched from AT&T years ago because Verizon seems to have the best cellular service around here. I heard Cingular had crappy service too in Sotuhern NJ- (soley opinion of others I have spoken to) It is a very good possibility if you are inside certain building service may be interupted. Just last week there was no serivece for anyone. I tried to call several friends when I got home form work and each time it said all signals were busy. The next day I heard several co-workers talking about how no one could use their cell phone the previous night. Don't doubt him.
