Any nation of people who sit back and let George W Bush (modern Hitler) 'control' their country are f*cking thicker than pig ****. I feel 4 the iraqi people, there is NO f*cking excuse 4 them yanky b*stards to bully there way around iraq. Thank the lord (if there is 1) most yanks hate GW BUSH.

Just the opposite:
I think the Americans can certainly justifiably criticize the intelligence of the average Brit. After all, the Brits were foolish enough to let their elected leader drag them into the War in Iraq. And the Brits are garish and tasteless enough to let pop-star competitions and reality programming be their highest-rated television programs. And the Brits are primitive enough to have their national sports obsessions lead them into anarchic manifestations of drunken violence. Let's face it, Brits have a drinking problem. Have you ever watched Booze Britain, Sky -Bravo cahnnel?? Look at the soccer riots and hooliganism for example. Only British have soccer fans that are banned from traveling to international matches. And of course the Brits are shallow enough to obsessively fetishize the lives of people whose only claim to greatness is to have been born into prominent families, and even believe that such privilege of birth entitles them to act as Head of State. Absolutely, we Americans are well-within their rights to categorically condemn the foolishness and indeed thickness of the Brits, having never once stooped to any of these telltale signs of social idiocy themselves.
The problem with the Brits is they still have the old master/servant superiority complex. They still hang on to their colonies wherever they can. This could be part of the reason, because the Americans kidded their asses in 1776 and we never looked back. We went on without their help to build the greatest nation on the face of the planet. You might say there's a little bit of envy there. The Brits would be speaking german right now if it weren't for us yanks. The Brits will be practicing Islam soon enough it it weren't for us yanks. The problem is, they used to rule the world. Now we do. They don't like it. And oh by the way, why do the thick Brits still pay £millions every year in hard earned taxes to support a monarchy that has no part in running the country? And thick?? How about Prince Harry at a party in a Nazi uniform. Now that is thick!!! And they actually believe they're going to win the world cup......

There was a time when Brits and Americans would've stood shoulder to shoulder, proud to call each other friends. Something bad has happened in recent times and now even the Brits have developed a loathing of all things American.

I think that thing was George Bush. He has alienated America's last true friend. The sad answers to this question are a good indicator of that.

Yeah it is unfair.

Is it a case of: "some of best friends are American" or "I don't mind Americans but I wish they'd stop pushing their lifestyle into my face", kinda thing...?

British people seem to think it's OK to white wash a whole nation of individuals with a stereo type. For the most part the British media has toned down it's bigotedness in terms of sexism and racism, but still seems to think it's OK to be particularly dirogatory towards Americans.

As a Brit, I wouldn't want to judged by a) the current administration nor b) the British stereo type.
Also being a European, as soon as we're born into one of our respective lands we are instilled with attitude towards our neighbours based what our respective history books tell us about the neighbours in question. Think of it this way; in some places in Europe, within a matter of miles, different languages are spoken. Each nation striving to be different from the next. I have found that across the pond, they are to some extent free of our European baggage. Though I have also heard that the country is very polarised on issues of race & sexuality.

I think it is wrong to go along with opinions given to us by people, whether it be an opinion on race, gender or sexuality.
London is a fantastic place if only for the fact that you have the oppurtunity to confront instilled prejudice. People can either stay in their Ghettos and never mix it up with others, but that is denying oneself the opprtunity to find out for oneself what "others" are like.

So as for Americans, I think the British do have a tendancy to judge them. This in itself deserves to be judged as "thick"! - An unwillingness to learn. If you are lucky enough to go to the USA then go & judge the culture for yourself.

Now if the question had been about the French....

(Joke)

I am British and I don't class American's as thick. A little ignorant about what goes on outside their own country sometimes but there are some very intelligent Americans out there.

I am British and I do not ALWAYS class the Yanks as being thick.

It is true to state that I have met some really stupid, thick as f*ck Americans on my travels....but I have also met some completely moronic fellow brits as well.

You question insinuates that all us Brits think as ignorantly and ill informed as you do.

Please do NOT tar us all with the same brush. You obviously need to open your eyes and grow up a bit.

It is most likely unfair, but it is the impression that is given off and is an american stereotype, like the british stereotype is that all british people are gay, have a neutral, posh english accent and where bowler hats. Also, in America, English and British are interchangeable, something that is frowned upon in the UK, particularly the celts.

So it is likely to be unfair but something that everyone has to put up with

Yes. Although the well known phrase 'thick as two short yanks' probably has its origins in the UK.

Americans are the same as everyone else. except that they're not very Worldly-wise. They're too cossetted in their big isolated country, where they're fed propaganda by their American-patriot media. They should get out more (outside America that is).

I actually kind of like that superiority complex that the Brits have. The bulk of Americans are a bit thick, and show it ad naseum when they travel. I class Americans as thick, and I'm from California. Then again, you pay 6.00 per litre for petrol. Thank God you speak American though :) (really, it was a joke)

Jealous Brits are acutally short narrow little twits!
You were discussing thought process corrrect?
From their conduct you would be correct either way!
England! Where every lad fancy's himself a queen!
Yanks defeated you three times, saved your sorry a$$es more than that and you are delusional!
No! You are correct! Next time they should just let you all die! Maybe that would get your occupying a##es out of Ireland!

Its not unfair.. its just a little understated. Yanks are arrogant, loud mouthed, gun ho, in your face and thick. This is not classing all americans this way as the smart ones moved to Canada to let the thick ones scream at each other.
