Thjer were no Olympics during the world wars, they were suspended. Hitler opened the Berlin Olympics in 1936

Actually, the Olympic Games were suspended during both World Wars, so as above you might be thinking of Hitler in Berlin in 1936. Many of the opening ceremony traditions we enjoy today (tour of flame, saluting the host, etc) were started at Berlin.
