I was told that NO where in the Bible does it say we have to given money to tithe. God says given 10 percent of what you have. If you are homeless without money, how can you tithe? Giving one service can be used as tithing.

Does tithing means money?

Yes and so much more. The religious Jews of Jesus day were rebuked because they measured the tithe down to the grain of wheat & to the penny.

A tithe is of all you have.it comes down to one question, what is more important to you? money, time, power, influence. ALL that you have can be used in service to God and should be it our choice though if we want to be blessed or cursed. God can take it all from us but he ask only to return 10% (1/10th) and he then blesses the 90% so it is more than the 100%

even secular business understands the power of giving see Dale Carnegie, Sam Walton.

Tithing generally does mean money, 10% of one's income. However, if you are homeless without money, God just says to give what you can. For example, remember the story that Jesus told (or maybe it is real- I don't remember). A woman was old, weak, and poor. She had but two coins as her worldly wealth, but she gave it all to God. A man, rich, wealthy, and selfish, put in much more money than her, but hardly any of his actual fortune. God said the woman was more holy because even though she gave less, she gave more in God's eyes because she gave all that she could give, while the man hardly put in any out of his real wealth.

you can tithe your time, your skills, your service like cleaning the church or help out around the lot, you can spend time praying for the members or people that need prayer. It's not always about money it's about giving GOD your best or first fruit, which means to put HIM first. But if you have money than give that also, but if you are poor or really broke, than give your time....

it mainly means money, "bring your tithes into the warehouse (church), and I will open the store house of Heaven"
it is a principle of keeping the Church's open. if you do not have any, you can't give any! through experience i know that if i give my tithe, God has not let me go without my needs.
it really is whether we trust God enough to look after us.
if you have no money, give what you can.
in the old Testament, it also meant, grain, fruit, livestock etc.

Tithing is giving 10% of your best. Be that money, time, a talent, etc... It must be given with a joyful heart.

MONEY IS JUST ONE OF MANY ELEMENTS OF TITHING.

Leviticus 27:29-31 (New International Version)

30 " 'A tithe of everything from the land, whether grain from the soil or fruit from the trees, belongs to the LORD; it is holy to the LORD.

In the old testament days, tithing was 10% of your earnings or produce of your field or similar occupation.

Today, most of us are not field workers - but office workers. our earnings are in cash money. Tithing is not in vogue today as far as I know. But the TV spiritual channel guys - use clever and crafty words to keep alive the tithing subject - playing upon the mind of people and putting the fear of God in them - that if they dont give - they'll suffer terrible financial loss.

Most of them are known to say - "give to the Lord tithes and see how your financial problems vanish"

I would say, if you want to give, dont give to the TV channels - give it to the poor and destitute u find in the roadway outside your homes - the orphans and widows - buy some food or clothing for them. That is pleasing to God. His word says "inasmuch as ye do the least to one of these my brethrren, you have done it to me."

I'm sure it's listed somewhere in the bible, but it may not be said in exactly that context. 10% of what you have is all you should have to put in. If you have no money then you put no money. GOD isn't going to judge you for being poor. I can't afford to put in my 10%, but I always try giving something when I go to church. I may be wrong but this money along with other monies the church receives helps to maintain the church activities, bills, mortgage, Food banks, maintenance and upkeep of the church. I'll see if I can get more information by end of day.

Remember the little drummer boy who, because of his poverty, couldn't lay a gift before the King? He played his drum for the baby.

Your home church would appreciate your cash but tithing means give what you have...your time, your talent, whatever skills you have to improve life around you.
