Technically, neither. 'Jews' were God's chosen people from Israel - the people he gave the ten commandments to, through Moses, and all the people that followed these and all the Old Testament laws were 'Jews'. Abraham was around LONG LONG LONG before this happened.
In a sense, though, Abraham was the very first Jew AND Christian (sort of) because he was the 'father of many nations' and ALL people who follow and love and serve the one and only God are 'descendants' of him.
Christians are what the Jews became AFTER Jesus' death and ressurection. It's the same law, but we dont need to follow all the sacrificial rituals and stuff anymore because Jesus made that ultimate sacrifice for us, when he died on the cross. Abraham could not have been a Christian in this sense of the word, because Jesus hadnt even been born yet - but, by the same token, he followed the very same God.
Hence the Jews of the Old Testament, Christians, and Abraham are followed and serve the very same God. The only thing differentiating any of them/us was the historical context.

Oh, lets see ... Abraham was the father of MANY nations, the Jewish peoples being only one of those. So I don't think you could call him a Jew. And being the "father" of Prophet Moses he certainly wasn't a follower of Moses, so he wasn't a Jew racially or religiously. He lived long before Jesus and the advent of the Gospel, so I don't think we can call him Christian either. So ... Man, hard one, huh? Whoa, hold on here. What did Abraham DO? Maybe that answer's your question. He did the same thing Moses and Jesus did, didn't he? Abraham submitted to God. Ahh, THAT'S it. Abraham's religion was submission to God! Cool! Guess that makes him one who submits. And I'll bet he found peace that way too. Gee, I wonder if there's just one word that could be used to describe the act of submitting to God, and the peace that results from that submission? Now a word like THAT would make a GOOD name for God's religion. ;-) ~ Peace & Blessings ~

By the way. Abraham is generally not considered a prophet. In both the Old and New Testament senses of the word.

Neither. He just believed in worshipping Allah and submitting to Him only.
16:120 In the Name of Allah:
Verily, Ibrahim (Abraham) was an Ummah (a leader having all the good righteous qualities), or a nation, obedient to Allah, Hanif (i.e. to worship none but Allah), and he was not one of those who were Al-Mushrikun (pokytheists, idolaters, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, and those who joined partners with Allah).

he was Jewish, but it was also said that he knew Christ. So its hard to say. If you are a Jew, he is still a Jew who saw the Christ who is still to come. If you christian, you believe he was one of the first Christians because he believed in the Christ, which Christians believe was Jesus

“Who could have a better religion than someone who submits himself completely to God, is a good-doer, and follows the religion of Abraham, a man of pure natural belief?... (Qur'an, 4:125)
People continue to argue over which religion Prophet Abraham (pbuh) followed. Jews regard him as a Jewish prophet and claim to follow his path. Christians also consider him a Jewish prophet, but claim that he followed Prophet Jesus (pbuh), who came after him.
In the Qur'an, however, God reveals the truth of this matter by providing certain information:
“Or do they say that Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, and the Descendents were Jews or Christians? Say: "Do you know better, or does God?" Who could do greater wrong than someone who hides the evidence he has been given by God? God is not unaware of what you do. (Qur'an, 2:140)
Moreover, other verses expose just how irrational this debate really is:
“O People of the Book. Why do you argue about Abraham when the Torah and Gospel were only sent down after him? Why don't you use your intellect? You are the ones who argued about that of which you had knowledge. But why do you argue about something of which you have no knowledge? God knows; you do not know. (Qur'an, 3:65-66)
The Qur'an provides the most accurate information about Prophet Abraham (pbuh), for it is the only uncorrupted book of God. If people take other sources as guides, they fall into great error and interpret matters in the light of their own ideas and beliefs. As in all matters, however, believers take the Qur'an and the Sunnah of our Prophet (may God bless him and grant him peace) as the only true sources of information about the prophets and their lines, for teaching falsehoods and engaging in speculation and guesswork, particularly about the prophets, displeases God.
Only the Qur'an states the whole truth about Prophet Abraham (pbuh):
Abraham was neither a Jew nor a Christian, but a man of pure natural belief-a Muslim. He was not one of the idolaters. (Qur'an, 3:67)
The Qur'an calls Prophet Abraham (pbuh) a hanif, instead of a Jew or a Christian. Hanif means a devout, upright, and righteous person who submits to God's command and never moves away from His religion. The most hanif characteristics of Prophet Abraham (pbuh) were his belief in the One and Only God and his submission to Him. In another verse, our Lord commands Prophet Muhammad (may God bless him and grant him peace) to abide by Prophet Abraham's (pbuh) religion:
“Then We revealed to you: "Follow the religion of Abraham, a man of pure natural belief. He was not one of the idolaters." (Qur'an, 16:123)
God wishes people to turn to religion in a hanif manner, as pure believers. God clearly emphasizes that hanif people do not ascribe partners to Him:
“So set your face firmly towards the Religion, as a pure natural believer, God's natural pattern on which He made humanity. There is no changing in God's creation. That is the true Religion-but most people do not know it. (Qur'an, 30:30)
As can be understood from several verses, Prophet Abraham's (pbuh) religion was essentially the same as Islam. In any case, all divinely revealed religions are, in their original and uncorrupted forms, essentially built on earning God's good pleasure, compassion, and Paradise. Prophet Abraham's (pbuh) children and grandchildren, as well as other devout individuals from his line, adhered to this religion after his death. For example, the Qur'an emphasizes Prophet Joseph's (pbuh) address to his fellow prisoners:
“I hold fast to the creed of my forebears Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. We don't associate anything with God. And that is how God has favored us and all humanity, but most do not give thanks. (Qur'an, 12:38)
