I have a different view of suicide than most people do...
I don't believe that anyone; not a parent or sibling, not a teacher or psychologist,... will ever truly understand what one's 'true' state of mind is when they decide to forfeit their life.
Numerous times I have heard the masses bleat the cliches, "Suicide is the coward's way out", and "It takes more courage to go on living than it does to commit suicide."
To them my retort is always the same: "Try it..."
I can't tell you if suicide is a good idea or not; you'll have to figure out that on your own, and I'm sure you'll have plenty of advice to sift through and digest before this question is resolved.
I will leave you with this quote, as I believe it is the wisest thing I've ever read on the subject of suicide:
"We have no power to prevent ourselves being born: but we can rectify this error - for it is sometimes an error. When one 'does away with' oneself one does the most estimable thing possible: one thereby almost deserves to live." - Nietzsche

I hope religion is not the only thing that prevents people from killing themselves!
Thinking about suicide is indicative of a brain chemical imbalance. You need to see a doctor and be prescribed medication that will relieve your depression.
Of course the problem is really not so simple but that has to be the first step. Suicide thoughts are triggered by all kinds of experiences in our lives and I guess your life is not going so well. Seeking out help is a good thing to do. If you can't afford a good therapist there are help lines and people to talk to about your view of the world.
Try thinking about anything that you once really liked to do and then do it. You need to get out of the rut you're in to be able to see things from a different perspective.

If there is no heaven or hell, no good or bad. Then Yes when you are old and feel you've had enough of this world, Having that control of your life would be quite nice, that is to say you havent died yet.
If there was no heaven or hell, I'd love to die at old age either going to sleep or jumping out of an airplane without a parachute!
And if you mean kiling yourself now at young age, and somehow able to think after death, I'm sure that after some time you would wish soooo extremely badly that you didnt kill yourself!
And if there is a heaven and hell, and you did kill yourself, thatd be going to hell. Cause you dont own your body and have no right to do that. a kind of short cut to hell.

Depends what kind of a character you are.
If you give up easy...probably yes.
However I would suggest trying to make the world better if you say you don't like it and you want to get out of it.
I'm not a religious man either but this doesn't mean I can't find a purpose for my life.
And always consider that there might be a God. Your starting hypothesis is not proven right yet.

No ,it's not a good idea. This is the easiest way to get rid of your problems, but it doesn't salve anything. By killing your self you will only heart the once who love you ,and i am sure there are people who do love you. It doesn't matter how worst your life look like now ,after every bad thing comes something good and it is worth to live for that.

Hi, I am not religious/religious......I am a little confused with that.......plz understand that I read books on various topics from my childhood........I am an engineer.....
This thought did occur to me......lot of times............
There is one man I respect a lot......he is a great thinker....I think the greatest.. he never contradicts reason and is very scientific....and he happens to be a vedanta teacher.......
He said "killing yourself is like killing the headmaster of a school , he will be replaced immediately."
He said......we will be born again...and have to face the problem in next life...that weakness is not the way out..only strength is the way out......
In hinduism, lord (incarnated as a man called rama) expressed his willingness to leave the world by committing suicide.....for which his teacher explained......."what makes you sure that there isnt another world out there you will go to if you die.....and that its not worse than the present one?"
all hindu prophets said that there is rebirth........This is very much stressed in hinduism......that leaving the body ....only gets you another body ....and you will be born and have to face the problem again..........
even though you and I are not religious.....think about this.....we know nothing about death...we dont know so many things about life....about the universe......we dont know if it will be over when we die ......or it will be worse........we will die one day anyway.....
why not wait.........and try to figure out life........

Killing yourself is never a good idea. The problems in your life can't be solved if your dead, and there is no way to change your decision. Plus there is bound to be someone left behind that would feel the pain and anger that come along with you making such a decision. Try counseling first, and religion might just be a good idea.

killing yourself is a selfish deed. don't worry, i'm not going to mix this with religion. you think it sounds like a good idea. but, it really isn't. you are connected with other people. because you are part of a network, you are somewhat significant to some people. if you kill yourself, you will make a great impact on others. your parents would probably feel heart broken. if you have siblings, they might think of you badly or miss you dearly. people will start talking about you even though you're gone. good or bad, i don't know what they might say about you. do understand what i mean? you are connected with other people.
i understand a bit about suicidal activity because i've studied it and my ex was suicidal before i met him. so, it may sound like a good idea... but, it's not advised.

I have always thought that killing yourself is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. So, as for it being a 'good way out', I don't really think so. And to add more to the mix, what about those you leave behind. Everyone will forever wonder what is is that they could have done to prevent you being so alone. Most will blame themselves for one reason or another.
If you are serious, please, at least try calling the Suicide Hotline in your area.

Why? After all that effort that one winning sperm out of a million took to battle its way to the egg and become You? You're a winner from the start and deep inside, no matter what this life may appear to tell you. Winners don't quit. Live and let live!
