Growing up in the country, with the mountains practically in my back yard, and the forest across the street. Growing up, all I wanted to do was go to the city...I hated living in the country. My mom remarried, and we eventually did move. Looking back, now I wish i'd stayed! I grew up in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, and I didn't realize how good I had it, or how much I miss it. Completely beautiful countryside, good people, very little crime...perfection on earth!

What I remember is even if my parents used 2 work all day, they always come home 2 spend time w/ US eat dinner together, play outside for a while & watch TV together in our parents room. Then at bed time we used 2 pray & give us a goodnight kiss. I think what i still value from them it was the queality of their time to us not the quantity, I really think it was good for US to grow up in a happy family & ofcourse having my parents toghether as I still do.
So this is how my hubby & I are trying to do , no matter how tired we are from work spend a good time w/ our kids the only think we can give them in a way is their parents together since I have a daughter form another marriage & my hubby has a Son & we both have a Son but still we tried to spend time as a FAMILY no matter what I think it is really important ,the love, trust, confidence, & good communication that you provide 2 your kids. That's what i would like to pass 2 my children. Always keep family together even if you can...be together....:)

My dad is great but he always had a short fuse. One day I was playing in the house with my sister, I think I was about 7 or 8 and my dad comes storming in and yells at me to get the bike off the sidewalk and out of the way because he had tripped on it. Since I didn't have a bike I assumed he was talking about the tricycle that was my younger sister's that I hadn't even played with that day. I started to argue and tell him it wasn't mine and that I hadn't put it there, but he would not listen, he just kept telling me to get outside and move it. I was really mad and couldn't believe he was getting on my case about it, but I walked out to the sidewalk and that's when I saw it. My very first bike, hot pink, flowers on the seat, a basket on the front and streamers on the handle bars. I turned around to see my dad standing in the doorway of our house laughing hysterically! It wasn't my birthday or Christmas or anything, he just thought it was time I had my own bike and wanted to surprise me. I love doing things like that for my daughter, little surprises here and there, I think tricking her the way my dad used to trick me will come a little later though, she's still a little young to appreciate a good joke like that.

We had horses so we always got to ride. Where we lived there was no worrying about anything bad going to happen to us. Now a days you can't let you kids go to friends house because ther is some freaky people out there. You never know who is a good person. All you hear about is the bad.
So I would wish that all people were good and trustworthy

Best is my mothers love and her protection when my father used to scold, it taught me that it is always nice to know there is someone to turn to in times of adversaries.
