So they will be prepared.
Everyone is curious, if nothing else.

I don't think everybody is as eager as you think, and some don't have a choice but the future is shown to them.
If we are shown the future, is it a blessing because more often than not it isn't the pleasant side of life that is shown?
So, there has to be a reason for tradegy and disasters etc to be shown to certain people, to warn us of something maybe it is in hope that a change can be created, maybe it is a supposed to be a personal insight, but it isn't all through choice that the future is shown.
There is and could be a great advantage in knowing what lies ahead, just think of how many lives could be saved if we knew when the next earthquake was going to happen, where it was to happen. Personally, today is hard enough to get through, so I'll think about tomorrow as it slips into today ;)

fear of the unknown? I agree with you. This is what we should be all doing. Focus on what's in hand now. Even Prophet Muhammad tells us that if one as planting a tree and suddenly realised Dooms Day has come; he should finish what's in hand.
Leave the future to Allah. The best way to get ready for the future is to do what we have to do at present well.

It's the fear of the unknowns.
I am off to work in a few, but could die in an accident just driving on the way there. I am not going to worry about that, but drive the way I have been driving as usual (always carefully, LOL).
Life's too short to worry about things that we may have no control over, or not know it may happen. People tend to want to know everything about the future, so they feel they are in "control". No knowledge of the future, they don't feel in "control" of their lives. It's the unknowns that scares us.

That is because people want to plan for tomorrow, for future.
Animals, birds and other creatures live for today.
Human life is different,so they have to plan.
They are not wasting their time. They prepare for future.
'The prepared mind catches the opportunity and wins.'

it could be viewed as "preventive measures"! If we didn't like what was going to happen to us in the future we might be able to change it or avoid it!

what is future? The unkown? The unseen?
THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS FUTURE.
FUTURE HAS ALREADY BEEN SEEN. FUTURE IS ALREADY BEEN REVEALED AND KNOWN.
hahahhaha. Go ponder this.
Have a good week.

Its called 'PLANNING'.
Same reason people have insurance.
Same reason people make reservations.
Same reason people have retirement savings.
The future eventually becomes the present and it has to be dealt with.
