Mercury fillings are removed to fill a need for you and people like swissnick who can't stop obsessing over this or that. Sam Z's case is much more common. The hilarious thing is if you eat sea food (fish) you are being exposed to tons of mercury.
Do it. Pay the dentist well maybe you'll get some half decent plastic, i mean composite fillings done.
On another not there have been less that a handful of true mercury allergy eve documented. So that argument is bogus and is commonly used by the scam artists who practice Mercury removal clinics.
Good luck you need it.

My sister did. Then the composite (white) fillings were placed, and not in the most expert way. 5 years later they removed the composites and replaced with amalgams (silver fillings). Now the teeth are fairly compromised and she is getting crowns.
So, one thing to consider is that each time a filling is removed, a little more good tooth structure is also removed, affecting the integrity of the tooth.

Yes, I had them removed completely, for reasons of general health.
Since then I've got a much more healthy tooth flesh (pink and stronger) and less holes in the teeth. The acid in the mouth is reduced to a normal level as well - so your whole organism has less trouble.
I would do it again - and anyway watch out that you go to a special for mercury removal, including tests that really everything is taken out.

Don't do it!!! More mercury is released during the filling removal than what will be released if you just leave them alone. Did you know that there is more mercury in one fish that what is released from an amalgum filling. I would only ever have an amalgum filling removed if it was absolutely neccessary.

Why are you asking the same shite again?
Hey you've had advice from the best dentist in the world already (THAT'S ME)and some other guy who says he's an endodontist(like white fillings are somewhat connected to root canals??).
Just go and do it or don't.

Yep- all three were replaced. Much better for you as apparently the metal is absorbed into the body.
Another slightly more dubious you can also accidently bite foil on chocolate wrappers and not get electric shock.
