If there is only one God and religions contradict each other then just one (or none) of them can be right. Would this mean damnation for the people that are wrong?

Why do people think that their religion is the right one? Why are they so intolerant to the other religions?

Personaly I think that religion is a bad thing and religion fanaticism makes people narrow minded and less tolerant (in the best case) or murderers in the worst.

To believe in one God doesn't mean it should become a part of any religion or the "Creator" meant in each religion is not the same.
Most of people think that their religion is the right one only because of their FANATICISM to their own faith. and most of them so intolerant to the other religions is only because of their EGO. That is a human characteristic.

I came from Arabian family, my father,a Palestinian is Christian and my mom, a Lebanese is Moslem but we live so tolerant and respect to the difference of our faith. We belive that we pray to the only one same GOD, the creator of this universe.

The religions nowadays are more political than spiritual. The number of the flock matters more than the spiritual message of the certain religion. It is a kind of religious party, far less democratical than the political parties for they are growing their flock through gilt.
Deny sexuality, happiness, enjoyment of the senses (the instruments of evil) and you get a guilty herd that comes to you to repent their sins. Change the ‘holy’ writings according to your agenda and have them begging for forgiveness than manipulate them as you want (in certain boundaries of course, but you set the boundaries as the mother church). And God doesn’t have anything to do with this. God is used by the people as a king of night poppy, used only when you need him, forgot when not needed. God is seen more a psychological necessity.
The eternal damnation is just the instrument of manipulation. There are sources that are saying that Bible contained the idea of reincarnation (Black Sea Manuscripts) which is wide spread in the Eastern religions. I am tempted to believe that religion is the most effective manipulation using the most effective instrument: Guilt.
The flock believes it is in the best religion because it is told so by the preists, many times to be effective. Repetition is the key if the flock doubts.
Did you ever go to the church orthodox or protestant they are all using the same trick. Through priest’s repetitions of some sentences in the service or songs in other churches, the ideas are ‘planted’ in the minds of the believers. “Believe don’t question!”
You got what I want to say I believe…

I would like to ask you do not mix God with religions as the relation with God is personal without any intermediary like priests or churches. And there are no contradictions.

>>>Personaly I think that religion is a bad thing and religion fanaticism makes people narrow minded and less tolerant (in the best case) or murderers in the worst<<<<<

That statement of yours is right on the money...

Each religious denominations have their own way of wanting its member to worship "god" They use religion to justify their actions towards people who are different.

It is even more pathetic that they make false statements about non-believers mainly atheists.

Silly people religion is for the weak-minded person who can not think for themselves

Edit:
Religion is a bligjht onto society, it needs to be removed so society can progress of the better.

Religion will only hinder society if we continue to rely on it

All religions don't contradict eachother. Only some do. For example... if you read the old testament God talks about all of the other religions and the other God's. You should really try reading the Bible. It really does have EVERY answer. I'm not just saying that because I am a Christian. I'm saying that from personal experience.

Religions contradict each other because instead of making an effort to represent God well, so many are simply a means for 1 guy to be head honcho.
Of course people think their religion is right, why else would they belong to it?
If they are intolerant, their religion isn't doing them much good.
One God, one religion does seem to make sense.

Sometimes I feel sorry for anyone who believes so strongly in their religion, because it's like they have become deluded, like they live in a world of fantasy and make believe.

They always seem to have an answer for the good and bad things that happen. But they are so confused inside that being so religious is like a self-defence mechanism.

Religion gives people an excuse to blame God when something tragic happens and it's shallow because life is NOW and no amount of praying can make a difference unless we do something ourselves.

thats a very tough question! I don think religion is a bad thing, its just a way of life. However religious fanticism is a horrible thing. All religions have the same principles..be good, u go to heaven! pray and help and be kind..there is only one creator,he just has different names thats all:) its the fanatics that give religion a bad name. they're going to hell anyway so why worry bout them!

I agree with you. However, the removal of Religion would not necessarily bring about Peace. Human Nature appears to want to Dominate any one that is different. Look at all the Teasing that goes on in School and that teasing is not based on any religious differences.

Why are you so intolerant to religious people? Religions simply have different pointviews. Catholics think good works will get them to heaven, Buddhists think that if they worship Buddha, they'll have many blessings, and so on. What, is there racism from Atheists and religious people now?
