Just the other day, I went out with a few friends and when we were walking to this park when this guy and his wife passed us and loudly asked, "Have you kids EVER heard of The Chruch of Jesus Christ?!" I suppose he didn't like how we were dressed or w/e, because also, we heard him say ,"Let ye Satanist burn in hell." We don't worship in Satan/'God' or what-so-ever. And we dress the way we want to.
And today, some people from a chruch came by and asked if we would like to join their chruch, they had a 'Bible', cross, everything. One of the guys were staring at me like 'wtf...?' Because of how I do my makeup, people call me "Gothic" or "Emo" or whatever.
And it kinda makes me sad and all with how hard they try and the fact that none of their stuff'll work. I'm an Atheist and I'm gonna stay that way.

Hmm.. might I have forgotten something?
The men that came today had come 3 weeks before, I remembered them. They had kept asking if my parents were home and I said, "No." They asked if I wanted to convert, and I said, "No." So I'm not really trying to be mean, but they interupted my shower.

Umm... I don't need any religion because for one, I don't believe in any 'gods' or 'God' or Satan, w/e. I don't believe there is life after death, unless it can be proven. Same with everything else, but that doesn't mean I'll just go believe it once it's proven. And if you waste your time saying something like, "HAVE YOU READ THE BIBLE?" Or "THIS IS THE THANKS GOD GETS FOR CREATING YOU?" If 'God' created me, then he has another 'sin' on his hands. No offense people. :]

Some people's religion requires them to proselytize. You don't have to listen. Just say politely that you aren't interested in what they're selling, and go on with your life.

Hi! Well, some people have very strong convictions in their "faith", wether right or wrong, they think they are "required", even "mandated" by beliefs that they must "witness" or "convert" others to the "Lord" or to thier thinking of what god says it takes to get to 'heaven". It's called "works". But what they are missing is that it is not what you "preach", but rather how you live your life that really wins people. You (or anyone) can't "demand" respect, it'd earned. Who are the people you repect and trust in your life? It's the ones who help you without asking for anything in return. it's the ones you can talk to and know they won't betray your trust. It's the ones you know you can leave your purse in the room, full of cash, and you know your stuff will still be there whrn you come back. those are the real "wittnesses"! No matter their "religon"! It' doesn't matter what a person "says", if they can't live what they preach.
But some people don't get that. They live their lives w/o ever looking at themselves !
One of my favorite probverbs is: A man will look in the mirror, seeing his image, walk away and forget what he has seen!
People would rather point out others' flaws than look at their own and have to change!
It's always easier to piont at others. That's why people "back stab". It turns everyones attention away from them.
I hope this helps. I do have alot of "life expierience".
Stay cool. Be true to yourself and never forget what you've seen in the mirror. It may be hard at first, but change and growth are always a good thing!
peace out!

I don't think people should try to force their religion on others.
However, I think you're being a little hard on the people who asked if you wanted to join their church. After all, they were only offering an invitation. That's not 'forcing.' They should have a right to offer an invitation. You have a right to decline.
See, there are people--and I am one of them--who truly believe in God and that there is a life after this one, where all will be happy and peaceful. They (We) believe that everyone should have an opportunity to know about it if they want to. If we don't offer to tell them, how will they ever know?
And IF there is going to be punishment at the end of it all, for those who did not accept Jesus, as we believe there is, then we would be very unkind not to at least OFFER to share the info.
It's always one's own choice, though to accept or reject it.
So I see your point and I hope you see mine.

If anyone should ever approach you with the message of the Gospel and its not brought with love and a generous heart then they've killed the message before its been uttered. As for forcing religion on anyone, trying going over to a country where this is no freedom of religion...you won't be bothered there. Aside from that there are countries where you are forced by threat of life to follow a specific "faith system" or be executed, you with your whole family. Living here in the good ol' USA its frowned up on to hold someone hostage, torture them and hold a gun to their head in order to get them to convert or prevent them from converting...or punish for non-belief altogether. So this whole forcing religion thing isn't any different than the millions of messages you get from billboards, radio, television, movie theaters, magazines, video games, infomercials and walk up sales people offering you every other "stuff" out there and some of it I'm sure you aren't in need of, desire of or approve of..yet you don't protest commercialism...and those people really don't give a fig about you, just your almighty dollar. If you pierce your face and tatoo up and dress like a walking funeral participant all the time...people are gonna stare...the same with dying your hair like a muppet. As far as the "Burn in hell ye satanist..." statement...maybe he was a satanist and that was his bastardized 16th century english way of saying..."See ya there!" I mean..I don't know too many Satanists who are anticipating hookin' up for the big party in heaven...So...don't get so offended...Stay an atheist..and ya know what...as a christian and believer in the KJV of the Holy Bible..I can tell you for reals...it does not say you will burn for eternity in hell anyway...so this life, my friend, is all about choices. You are choosing eternal life or eternal death. Choosing God or going without...I'm just here to tell you that if you do desire eternal life..Jesus provided a way for you to have it. He is The Way, The Truth and The Life. I tell you truely, you may claim atheism..but do you ever wonder why you spend so much time in and around christian chat, message and posting areas...with so much hatred and disdain. How could you hate someone that simply believes you deserve a chance to be with a God that created you, loves you and wants to be with you for eternity. Even if its not true...which I believe all the way around that it is...why reject the person along with the message. Its just love, friend...its just love. If your breath stinks I'll give ya some gum. If you were bleeding I'd give ya a band aide, ya thirsty..here's a soda..hungry..I'll split my Arby's chicken cordon blue sammy wid ya. Any christian who comes to you with a sincere message of salvation is only wanting to give you a gift..one that they have recieved. If you don't want it..then just say so...don't get offended. Or get offended..its always your choice. Nobuddy forces anybuddy...its just the news...the Good News. Love in Christ, ~J~ <><

I don't know why people try to force religion on others. I don't like it either. I am very open about what I believe, especially when others ask. But, everyone must believe/not believe what they want to. It's everyone's free CHOICE
Anyway, some of my friends have been what these "religious" people would call "freaks". I don't call them that at all. My first REAL friends were covered in tattos, pierced, and toked it up day and night......... and I'm a conservative Christian!!!!!
Nope, I'm not a hypocrite, I just believe in treating people how I "preach" : )
Thanks,
Jon

When I was younger I hated it when people would do that. They'd run up to me and give me little papers that say 'd go to hell.
I hated religion for that, so I became a pagan. It made sence to me at the time.
I dont agree with forcing religion at people, but I do agree with sharing the Good news with people.
When people ask, I tell them how wonderful my life has changed since I opened my heart to the Lord Jesus Christ.

Many religions require their converts to go about and seek out those they "believe" need converted. I would not take it too personal. As a Christian, one who believes in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and not a religion, I do not find it necessary to make snide remarks within earshot range of people as a means of hoping to convert them. I also don't go door to door. If the way I live my life doesn't allow others to see Christ in action through me, then my life is being lived wrong. I have had to post a sign "No Religious Solicitation" on my door as I do not desire to here their rhetoric and that may make me sound unChristlike, scripture teaches that we are not to allow the devils workers into our homes. Once you've made your choice, it's yours to freely let people know you don't need to hear theirs.

I think people that force their religion on others make them a "cult" as to a certain extent! It's their way or no way, I also think that people like that are very ignorant to their surroundings and rude and obnoxtious..! I do not have a religion of my own and proud of it...my kids are not forced into the life of church but if they want it when they get older then so be it...freedom of personal choice I say!!!!!! Nothing wrong with Goth or anything like that...if people stare then "bring it on" I say....ha, ha, ha..! Later

Because they think that they're right, and they want to "convert" the world to their beliefs. They can't accept the fact that some people actually have a mind of their own and chooses to use it to do their own thinking, instead of choosing to believe in something that was never proven.

Hon, the reason for it is they are simply stuck at step 3 of religious development...
Stage 3: Synthetic-Conventional Faith
In other words,
"The third stage is labeled Sythetic-Conventional faith. The majority of the population finds its permanent home in this stage. Usually arising in adolescence, this stage demands a complex pattern of socialization and integration, and faith is an inseparable factor in the ordering of one's world. It is a stage characterized by conformity, where one finds one's identity by aligning oneself with a certain perspective, and lives directly through this perception with little opportunity to reflect on it critically. One has an ideology at this point, but may not be aware that one has it. Those who differ in opinion are seen as "the Other," as different "kinds" of people. Authority derives from the top down, and is invested with power by majority opinion. Dangers in this stage include the internalization of symbolic systems (power, "goodness" "badness") to such a degree that objective evaluation is impossible. Furthermore, while one can at this stage enter into an intimate relationship with the divine, one's life situations may drive one into despair (the threshold to the next stage). Such situations may include contradictions between authorities, the revelation of authoritarian hypocrisy, and lived experiences which contradict one's convictions."
At this level of development, is the US VS Them mentality.

while became the final time somebody particularly tried to stress their faith on you? I image something like the Spanish Inquisition, i which heretics have been tortured till they time-honored the single actual faith. definitely, little or no of this is going on those days. the only examples i will think of of those days are in some Muslim international locations the place it particularly is particularly unlawful to coaching a faith different than Islam. it is obviously a destructive concern; primative and fanatical. In unfastened western societies, some human beings would attempt to hold forth to others with the aid of fact they think of their faith is so great that they are doing others a favour by ability of attempting to transform them. they'd experience that they are saving your soul and allowing you to have eretnal existence. it is particularly very kthoughtful of them. while you're no longer fascinated, courteously decline.
