don't worry about it. She will get over it, and all the animal rights avctivist can bite it. Don't listen to them. Give her a few days to get over it. Next time go into anotherroom and calm down before you discipline her.

What I want to know is, where was the statue? If it was up high on a shelf, a cat's natural instinct is to climb. Normally cats are outside climbing trees, cars, and houses. Your cat didn't purposely knock over your antique, she was probably just trying to meet her needs and/or doesn't get much attention. I think your cat might need a condo or something she can climb and kept away from valuables. About hitting her, well that is just unfair. She can't defend herself like humans can, so you choose to take advantage of that. If she does something wrong just look her in the eyes and firmly say no, and if your still upset, walk away until you calm yourself down. Once you have a one-on-one playtime session with her, I'm sure she'll forgive you. Also, make it a habit to give her treats every time she does something good, that way she'll recognize the difference between right and wrong.

She will possibly never trust you or be close to you. However I guess it depends on how long you have had her. If it hasn't been long - the chances of her attaching to you is low. But if you have had her for a long time, I'm sure she will be fine.
My fiancee and I had an indoor cat that always ran outside at every chance it had and would stay gone all day.
Our punishment was "time-out" in her room (we have an animal room).
Altho she acted pissed when we let her out, it didn't seem to affect her relationship with us.
But please, if you are angry with an animal I suggest a time out.
My cats understand that when they do something bad (something on purpose, like going outside) they wil be placed in their bedroom for about an hour.
(Going outside, especially after dark is dangerous to cats)
It sounds like the way you would treat children, but it works with cats too.
My lovely cat Boo was playing with my other cat one day (I have two cats) and she wasn't really watching where she was running and she ended up missing her jump and landing on my face and scratching the hell out of my eye. I was very angry. I was telling her I would get her declawed (I never would!) and all that, but I never hurt her. It was an accident.

You beat your cat for breaking a statue? I can see why. The cat obviously knew it was an antique and how special it was to you. Damn cat, she did this on purpose. Good for you, beat her again.
I hope she does not forgive you and finds another family to adopt and before she goes I hope she leaves you a special present in your shoe!!!

Yes, but you will be in the dog house for a while.
Go pick her up, scratch her ears, give her a treat and most of all reassure her that you love her.
Once she feels safe again, life will most likely return to normal. A one time OH SH--, won't do permanent damage, however if this becomes a habit it will modify her behavior toward you.
Most of us have lost our cool at least once, even with our human kids. ;-)

Its a statue. no longer something ill can come from the breaking of a statue. Your being paranoid. And in case you have been to be arrested, they might come get you, no longer call you and enable you be responsive to so which you have a hazard to flee.

i have stepped on my cat, closed her head in the door, and got her paw stuck between the door and the floor(all on accident of course, she likes to be right near someone and gets in the way alot) and she has always forgiven me. I think the cat won't mind... they just want attention and affection.

Highly unlikely - you have violated every rule of pet ownership.
Animals do not break things on purpose,,,,,,,,how would you like to get beaten for an accident?
