I just got a 10 week old kitten from the Humane Society about 5 days ago. She was spayed the same day I got her and she has had almost all of her shots. About 3 days ago she started sneezing. She has these 'sneezing fits' every now and then where she sneezes like every 7 seconds and its beggining to scare me! I dont know what I can to do help her.

Here is an article written by a vet about cats and dogs sneezing:

In any event, you most likely need to take her either back to the shelter or to a vet of your own choosing and have them diagnose her.

Hi, I raise purebred maine coons and the first thing I tell my new kitten owners, is that they are not to be alarmed if right after they get their new kitten home, the kitten starts sneezing. The problem could be as simple as your kitten is getting used to your household dust. Not that I am saying you are a bad housekeeper, every household has dust and they tend to differ. If the kitten has had a chance to run around your house and explore ,there is a good chance she got into some sort of dust. This will persist for a few days and as she gets accustomed to it she will stop. The other is that coming from a shelter she may have picked up a respiratory virus. This is a generally harmless virus that will pop up once in awhile especially at a time of stress for the kitten. Just the drive to your home and her new surroundings could be all that's needed for this virus to flair up. A good vet well administer a mild antibiotic and Kitty will be good as gold in a few days.

It could be nothing, or maybe it could be an allergy.
Did she start sneezing right from the start? Was she sneezing at the shelter?
If she wasn't sneezing at the shelter, but started sneezing as soon as you got her home, then it is probably an allergy. Try talking to the vet the next time you take her for more shots. If it is a huge problem, then call the vet sooner.
Enjoy your new baby!

Most cats that come from shelters have upper respiratory infections, they're nearly impossible to keep out of shelters once they're in, even in the cleanest environment. They get passed from cat to cat the same way that colds are passed from human to human, unfortunately, they're more serious in cats because they're so much smaller. When you take her to the vet, he'll give you some medicine you need to give her twice a day. Make sure you cat stays out of contact with other cats so she doesn't pass it along. If she's already been in contact with another of your cats, ask your vet for a second vial so you can treat both cats at the same time or they'll just keep passing it back and forth.

She may have rhinovirus and will need a trip to the vets.
I have one cat that is a carrier and the only reason I brought him into the mix is that I had older strong cats that could get the disease and fight it off. A kitten however isn't strong enough always to do this and should see a doctor. Cats can get this kitty cold and be just fine by the way but cat's usually only sneeze if they have a virus or a sinus infection.

i like the throw it against the wall idea! but....just so u dont get thrown into jail for animal cruelty i thought i should let you know that i get all of the cats i have ever owned fron the humane society and every single one of then has ended up with upper respritory infection and while they have it they sneeze really really badly. even though they come out with all of their shots and in "perfect" health all of the cats i have ever owned from the humane society have all gotton sick. so just take it to a vet and they will probably diagnose it with upper respritory infection and they will give u an antibiotic liquid that u feed to ur cat. it is really easy
p.s. i have gottn at least 17 cats from the humane society so i know what i am talking about good luck!

Sounds silly but could be hayfever. Even sillier but true - some cats can be allergic to humans in the same way some people are allergic to them. A visit to the vet is a good idea.

sometimes kittens can have allergies like people do. a vet will be able to tell you more, it does not sounds like it but the can also get a type of flu which is fatal if not treated, which a vet can also help with. finally it may be a seasonal thing like pollen or a similar airborne substance that causes it.

She could be having a slight reaction to the vaccinations for cat flu. If in doubt, ring the shelter that you got her from. Apart from that, do you have a lot of dust where you live? Good on you for getting an unwanted cat, you sound as if you are a doting mum already!

It's an allergy. Take her to the vet and get a prescription for her. It is probably something in your house like some kind of pefumed air deodorizer or carpet cleaner.
