The kind of people who seem to never have enough money to pay for bills even though they are working full time, end up getting cable tv or one or all of the utilities cut off and have to pay more to get them turned back on..........always needing help with something, wants family members to help them find another place to rent after getting evicted at their current place. Quits jobs because they can't "work with" certain people there. Oh man I am in this situation right now with my step sister and her husband and family. They are in their 40's and have teenagers and have lived this way as long as I have known them. Constantly moving the kids to different schools because they never stay in one place too long. I am stressed out over them asking me to help them look for another place because where they currently live, they can't make ends meet there. *sighs*

The kids are 13 and 14. What little part time job they could find probably would not be much since they can't drive. The family has one vehicle.

I believe that we all need to help each other in one way or another, but sometimes you think you are helping someone, but what you are actually doing is contributing to the problem. (e.i., There was this man watching a cacoon trying to get out and become a butterfly, days went by and he was still trapped, the man felt really bad and so tried to help the cacoon by opening the hole and the butterfly came out with no problem, But the body was not fully developed and the little legs couldn't sustain it. Meanwhile the man kept watching the butterfly, he was anxious to see her fly and pose in any flower, unfortunately that never happened since the butterfly was never able to fly, it had to crawl on the floor for the rest of her life. On the other hand, the man who didn't understand that by making a great effort to come out of the hole the vital juices needed to be distributed around the body to make it stronger and be able to fly, when the butterfly passed through the hole without any effort the body didn't receive the substances necessary to fly>)
Sometimes we need to make an effort and learn from difficult times because God lets this things happen to make us stronger and he will not give a problem that cannot be solved. Help them to learn the proper ways to mantain a home, find proffesionals who can teach them skills to make the ends meet, but don't help them to never recognize their problem by always being the escape route.
Good Luck and I'll pray for you and your family.

It seems that they have a hard time managing money and when they hit rock bottom they run away from their problems. They need help or else their children will pick up their bad habits. its not fair to them- if they (the kids) were to get jobs like someone earlier said what kind of example will the kids have to follow- and if they give the money to adults they will just mismanage it as well. I suggest that you help them find a financial adviser and some clinical therapy

Everyone has a family member like that. If your getting tired of them then don't help. Thats why they are still like they are now because you always helping hem. And they are too old for that. They need to get a grip on life. Their children are suffering because they don't take life serious. Thats a damn shame.

You offer to take the children in (if you can afford it) and tell the step-sister and her husband to figure it out for themselves. It is way past time for them to grow up and become responsible. Let them fall flat on their face. As long as you continue to be there to pick up the pieces, they are going to continue to depend on you and others instead of themselves.

These people have turned their neediness into a way of life. I'd tell them I can't support my family and theirs too. You don't need to keep pulling someone out of a mudhole when they just keep crawling back in.

You need to be very firm with these people.
Tell them that you will not help them out any more.
I know that they are related to you but that does not give them the God given right to sponge on you or anyone else.
