Yes and no. Depends on their health problems. Some of the elderly do tend to revert back to being a child, some become mean and paranoid, others stay the same as they always were.

Yes, they become more sensitive with their feelings and more sentimental. They also easily got hurt when you say something that they don't like. They also want to have the things they wanted to have. Also, they want their reason to be the correct one. That's the emotional aspects that you should expect to deal with your parents when they grow older. On the physical side, they become weaker and need assistance most of the time.
But above all these, they are still your parents who needs more love, affection and care because they won't live that long anymore.

Yes it does become harder the older they get. They took care of you while growing up and when your parents get up in age it becomes a role reversal, you have to start caring for them like they did you. Remember once a man, twice a child.

No it doesn't. Your parents took care of you from birth. Imagine how hard that is? Raising a child from birth, sending he / she to school, making lunch for them, etc. Repay them back with the kindness they offered to you, and more.

When you grow older, you will also become like your parents.

Depends on the relationship in the first place. Also keep in mind that their physical health can be a very large reason for their irritability... as well as the too quickly changing world attitude and morals.

Depends upon the child and the parent. Some people refuse to get along with each other regardless of how old they are.

You're not getting any younger either.

I find that with my father it is easier as we both age. We are able to talk as adults and agree to disagree where we were almost never able to in the past.

I would give anything for the opportunity to have that chance with my mother, to get to know her as an adult. I wonder what she would be like now.

No, for me. Understanding and acceptance (of differences) improves with age. Disappearing for a short period may have helped in that respect.

I think that it does, only natural really, but probably no more trouble than you were all the time they were raising you, so par for the course really. Treasure them, whatever, while they are here, you'll miss them when they are not, believe me.
