This is not an answer to your question but it reminds me of a story. I was raised in a very strict fundamentalist household in a semi rural area.

On one occasion a school group of mine went to St. Louis Missouri for a couple of days and I ended up in a hotel restaurant by myself for lunch. I ordered the Reuben Sandwich, which I immediately associated with the Jewish faith (please remember I was a dumb kid). I was sooooo certain that I was doing wrong that I prayed at the table about the choice of eating it.

Finally I gave in. Sin never tasted so good.
